Más adelante, la grandeza del libro, la inteligencia y el salvajismo de Andrea, su pulso poético y su falta total de miedo hicieron trizas la rafia, y quedó a la vista una plantación intrincada, dolorosa, inmensa, nada sencilla. Hice la primera edición en un salón de Lisboa, y creo que fue allí cuando me di cuenta de que el libro era mucho más grande de lo que imaginé. También, y esto es importante, sentí envidia.
