Summary

From the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia, learn what sets high achievers apart - from Bill Gates to the Beatles - in this seminal work from "a singular talent" (New York Times Book Review).

In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different?

His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing. Along the way he explains the secrets of software billionaires, what it takes to be a great soccer player, why Asians are good at math, and what made the Beatles the greatest rock band.

Brilliant and entertaining, Outliers is a landmark work that will simultaneously delight and illuminate.

Very interesting read

Some Non-Fiction books which include research can be somewhat boring, I need to make sure I don't loose attention with these books, but not with this one (at least not until the last chapter). There's a lot of storytelling in this book which gives new insights into what makes humans successful. I would recommend this book to anyone who's interested in becoming successful... and who isnt?

Awesome! One of the best books on success

One of the best books I've read on success. The Author approaches the subject of success from a different point of view, a point of view not often (or at all) mentioned when discussing Success stories. The book puts a pin in the whole bubble know as "the self made success"

An insightful alternative view of success

This book tries to denounce the traditional story of success by delving deeper into the lives of successful people (outliers). What this book proves is that it is rarely, if ever, purely the individual's talents that have made them successful but a host of opportunities that they have had at various points in their lives or the culture they have grown up in. By changing our perception of success, we can see how important it is as a society to help as many people as possible to be successful.

Excellent book

Loved the call to honesty that this book makes and the way it gives new and broader perspectives on things that we label as geniuses and fenomenons. Excellent reading, loved to hear it from the euthor himself!

Hard work is not the only factor for success

I think this book is well researched. Success is not solely determined by hard work and effort. It turns out that there are a lot of peripheral factors that play a massive part in the outcome of an individual's successes. For example the date of birth can play a significant role as a factor towards success. I won't give anything away here, I'll leave you to read/listen to the book to find out.

Malcolm Galdwell does a very good job of dissecting the success of some of these outliers and provides an insight to patterns that contribute to success.
