About this listen
From award-winning author Sharon Draper comes Out of My Mind, the story of a brilliant girl who cannot speak or write.
Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She is smarter than most of the adults who try to diagnose her and smarter than her classmates in her integrated classroom - the very same classmates who dismiss her as mentally challenged because she cannot tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by cerebral palsy. And she's determined to let everyone know it...somehow.
In this breakthrough story - reminiscent of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - from multiple Coretta Scott King Award winner Sharon Draper, listeners will come to know a brilliant mind and a brave spirit who will change forever how they look at anyone with a disability.

So true!
I adored this book! I relate to it a lot as a person with Cerebral Palsy myself I’m extremely lucky to be able to use my voice.
Apart from that Melody and I are pretty much the same. I really relate to when she’s describing her feelings.

Heart warming story of courage, strength and determination.
This story resonated so much with me after working with young people with disabilities for 23 years. The main character, Melody grabs you from the start and drags you in to her world. I can’t wait to watch the film.

A really good story
It is a good story that makes me understand Melody and her disabilities and it could help others who read it, also get more of a view of how people feel with their own disabilities.
