clear and well explained theory

The more serious problem is that the book is smug, overconfident and simplistic. After I noticed this a few times, I found myself heading to some of the underpinning literature and concepts mentioned, to see how accurate the summary was. I then discoverd the extent of the problems that have been raised about the basic science claims that are alleged to underping polyvagal theory, and how Porges has either failed to respond to these at all or done so in a misleading way.
