About this listen
Brought to you by Puffin.
A star-crossed lovers romance that spans a millennia, for fans of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, They Both Die at the End and One Day
‘Maybe that’s all love is, in the end. An endless tempting of fate.’
Evelyn can remember all her past lives. She can also remember that in every single one, she’s been murdered before her eighteenth birthday.
The problem is that she’s quite fond of the one she’s in now, and more importantly, her sister needs her for bone marrow transplants to stay alive. So now she has to:
- find the centuries-old enemy who hunts her through each life and destroy them forever
- figure out exactly why she’s being hunted in the first place,
- try quite hard not to fall in love with them
…again.

Utterly compelling
This book had me from the start to end and whilst I was busy picking up breadcrumbs for the twist, I didn’t see the actual twist coming at all. Absolutely epic, unputdownable. The writing was beautiful but uncomplicated, the story itself was unique

Gorgeous, immersive, achingly lovely
I knew Steven’s next book was going to be a delight and it absolutely was. Beautifully written, lilting and weaving through history, fighting towards something better even when there is no hope. Wonderful.

Beautiful story, lovely language, but a bit slow for me
I’ve never read/heard anythink like it - which was refreshening. Beautiful language and poetry, cute love stories, but it the pace was a bit too slow and I wanted «more» - I wanted it to make me cry and zone out in blissful distraction, but it was close! But overall a good romance book!

Enjoyable but slightly depressing
I enjoyed this book but the death themes ended each section of the story with depressive undertones …. Which makes perfect sense Isuppose!

Incredible!
This is the most amazing, heart wrenchingly incredible book - so well written it makes you cry repeatedly for the two main characters and endlessly hope they will find a way. So well narrated too. If I could give it endless stars I would and I encourage you to listen to it, but please prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions….

Repeated use of the same words
The performer did great work with a mediocre book. The repetition of the same descriptions and the same words (visceral, existential to name ONLY two) meant I ended up just waiting for the words to keep coming up, or the same phrases. Struggled to keep going and was very relieved when it was finished.
