Editor reviews

Old Pipes and the Dryad is a wonderful short story - a fairy tale, really - about an old man's encounter with a dryad. The lovely and musical voice of Cindy Killavey narrates the tale, and actor Walter Zimmerman performs many of the character's voices, including the rickety Old Pipes. This story, by Frank Stockton, has stood the test of time, and listeners can count on an enchanted  journey into the realm of fairies for the duration of the audiobook.

Summary

Frank Stockton was an American writer and humorist, best known for a series of innovative children's fairy tales that were widely popular. His most famous fable is "The Lady or the Tiger?" (1882), about a man sentenced to an unusual punishment for having a romance with a king's beloved daughter. Other memorable tales are "The Griffin and the Minor Canon", "Old Pypes and the Dryad", and "Mr. Tolman".
