Summary

After a fateful hunting accident sends her on the run from the law, Robyn finds herself deep in the heart of Sherwood Forest. All she really wants to do is provide for her family and stay out of trouble, but when the damnable Sheriff of Nottingham levies the largest tax in the history of England, she's forced to take matters into her own hands. Relying on the help of her merry band of misfits and the sheriff’s intriguing - and off-limits - daughter, Marian, Robyn must find a way to pull off the biggest heist Sherwood has ever seen.

With both heart and freedom at stake, just how much is she willing to risk to ensure the safety of the ones she loves?

Nottingham is a delightful romp rife with boys bearing bows, transmen wielding quarterstaffs, noble ladies loving ladies, bawdy bisexual musicians, naughty nonbinary outlaws, and saucy sapphic nuns - in other words, Robyn Hood like you've never seen her before.

Absolutely Awful narration.

How difficult would it have been to get an actual English narrator instead of an American absolutely dire facsimile of? It has completely spoiled what I was so hoping would be a great audio book. I cannot even make it to the end of chapter 1. I am off to see if I can buy the book so I can read it myself. Don't waste your money!

Delightful retelling

I love Anna Burke’s retellings of classic fairytales. Her character’s always find their strength rather than constant damsel in distress. I was not a fan of the narration but able to get over it to listen. Romano was definitely trying to channel a bit of an Essex accent but It took a while to get into it since she’s clearly American.

It’s ok, but just barely!

My Sister is always kinda quoting Thumper: “If one can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” SO, there You go! It says it all!

I couldn't even get through the first minutes

I dont know if the accent is real or not but if it's real maybe narration isn't for you. I will have to old school read this one if I want to know how it goes because Holy shit...

The narration gets better, I promise

This is, and forever will be, my favorite rendition of Robyn Hood. I fell in love with Robyn (I'm crushing so bad!) and cannot get enough of this book. I'm listening to it a second time and bought a physical copy. Anna Burke did such an amazing job with this book! the narrator had a few issues in the beginning and her fake accent is horrible, but if you get past the first hour or so, it gets marginally better. she gives life to the characters once she settles into her acting. trust me, this is worth every minute it takes to get past the awkwardness.

Why didn't I listen to the sample?!

The story may be a great one but I'll never know. The narration is appalling! I didn't make it through the first chapter. Refund please!

Kudos!

This was so enjoyable! And a round of applause to the narrator for bringing life to these characters - I didn't like the sound at first, but wow did she turn my first impression around. Thanks for the H.E.A. Anna!

Like the author, not the narration

I have enjoyed books by Anna Burke before, so I thought I'd give this one a shot. I couldn't get much past the first chapter because the narrator's voice drove me nuts. I'll have to buy a copy to read.

Entertaining & Interesting

This was a fresh spin on an old tale that kept me delightfully waiting on the edge of my seat at each turn. I appreciated the inclusion of identities that aren’t often included in wlwfic, specifically transgender and bisexual in this story. Annette Romano can you gives a fantastic performance, distinctly narrating different accents and voices. I would 10/10 recommend this adventure.
