Heartbreaking and heartwarming
Written with compassion and insight and based on meticulous research, this opened my eyes to the reality too many of us try to ignore when we scurry past the figure sitting in the doorway on the high street. Strongly recommended.

important & compelling
well researched with an important human touch. sometimes hard to listen to as the stories are often quite tragic, but well worth it for the important work it does.

A thought-provoking account
Overall this was interesting and eye-opening. I struggled to stay with the last third of the book though as it was a bit long-winded & I felt could have been edited down quite a lot. The narrator was excellent.

Poverty tourism, truisms and uninspiring.
Awful poverty tourism riddled with inaccuracy. Author somehow manages to avoid speaking to a single frontline worker and appears to believe literally everything she is told. If you want to be told sad stories and about the evil old council then this is the book for you! Most annoyingly the author reportedly has psychic powers (reporting what people are thinking and feeling even when she was in another city from them!) but chooses only to use these powers to write a book full of truisms. Homelessness is terrible experience! Who knew!
