Sarah Mogan is my queen of romance.

What made the experience of listening to New York, Actually the most enjoyable?

The cosy, relaxing feel of an honest romance story

What was one of the most memorable moments of New York, Actually?

The dogs, Valentine and Brutus finding each other and instant friends.

What about Jennifer Woodward’s performance did you like?

Her ability to convey the characters as I imagined them to be

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

For the love of dogs

Any additional comments?

A fairytale in New York, Sarah Morgan's latest novel gives you everything, laughter and love, friends and family, hurt and comfort wrapped in another gorgeous cover. The star of the show are the dogs, Valentine and Brutus, both completely adorable. New York, Actually had made me laugh, cry and wish I was right their in Molly's urban family.

Light, fun, not very stretching

Where does New York, Actually rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I see this as a chick-lit book with a rather contrived plot. That aside, I knew I'd listen to it until the end and the characters were quite endearing.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictable.

What does Jennifer Woodward bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

It's nice to have the different voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really - I guess the lawyer carrying the dog to the vet.

Any additional comments?

Fun for a holiday read.

Another recommended read/listen from Sarah Morgan

I've been a fan of Sarah Morgan's books for some time but this is the first time I've used the audio version. Finding it was read by Jennifer Woodward was a bonus for me as I'd previously listened to her narrate parts of Small Great Things and enjoyed listening. In this Jennifer narrated several characters and was still pleasant to listen to and able to adapt to the variety of people and accents well.
Sarah Morgan's story was as always enjoyable and as a continuation of her Manhattan series it was nice to add new characters to others I already knew from previous books. This story would also work well as a stand alone novel as enough information was given for anyone stepping into these books at this point (though having enjoyed the previous three stories I'd recommend them anyway). Looking forward to future books to hear the stories that will be given to each of the twins.

Love the story shame about the accent

The American accent grates and pronunciation grated. If you can zone out of that, the story is great Sarah Morgan stuff - probably my favourite in this series

American reader

No personal offence to the actual recorded reader, but as it was read by an American, it took me much longer to gel with the story. I’m used to an English reader who does American accents, not vice-versa.

tedious predictable

Within 5 minutes I knew I had made a mistake with this audible book. Should have asked for refund. The narration was robotic and the story was predictable. Gave up and didn't bother finding out how it ended because it was obvious.

Cheesy

Bought this audiobook on the way to NY. Expected it to be a bit cheesy but wanted something easy for the plane. My expectation was met.

The narration is marked in particular by Molly’s very dodgy “British” accent, reminiscent of the success of Dick Van Dyke trying to be a cockney.

Overall the book could have been about 3 hours shorter without detracting from the storyline. The “reveal” at the end was only shocking to the extent that the author thought anyone could have been surprised!

Two stars overall is generous but it’s harmless enough.
