as ever a good easy story to listen to
only a couple of hours long - far too short for a whole credit - feel a bit cheated,!

A Cosy Christmas Murder at Champton!
I usually avoid Christmas novellas as they’re shorter and usually lack the gusto of the main series. Rev. Richard packs all the classic hallmarks of his Canon Clement books into this short story though and I was taken back to childhood Christmases in the early 90s listening to this!
If you’ve not read the first novel, the nuances of the individual characters won’t be obvious in this book but if you have, you’ll feel like you’re in the room attempting to enjoy Christmas at the Rectory.
Thank you for this gorgeous little taste of Champton (and bread sauce!).

Short story for Christmas with a murder
A lovely short story for Christmas, read beautifully by the author. I really like the recurring characters, church life and, of course, the crime and solution.

Really short - didn’t realise it wasn’t a full book
Enjoyable story, but feel a bit cheated having purchased it thinking it was a full novel like his others. It’s really short!

Good story perfectly narrated.
I had already read and written a review for this book. The narrator, being also the author, read the story expertly, obviously knowing the appropriate speed and where emphasis should occur; his voice was perfect.

A Lovely Relaxing Listen
I enjoyed everything about this book. It flowed so well. An interesting story too. Short but not a dull over descriptive moment anywhere.

A perfect Christmas story
I loved this! It was so well written and reminiscent of the Christmases I experienced in childhood (in some ways) with the added nostalgia of country Christmases and those before I was born. It gave me a huge craving for Bread Sauce so I was thrilled to have the recipe at the end!! It is a novella though, so it's short and some may feel cheated at the price. It's worth it, though, at this time of year - really gets you in the spirit.

An excellent murder mystery plus a recipe
Although this is only a short story, it contains all the usual things which make Richard Coles' Canon Clement books such a good read. I cannot say much without risking including a spoiler, but the book combines Richard's keen eye for the detail of all the things which give rise to Christmas tensions as well as showing his lived experience as a vicar during Christmastide.
The story and denouement are crisp and well-plotted.
This would be a good book to listen to while sitting round the fire beside the Christmas Tree on Christmas evening.
And thank you Richard for including an excellent recipe which we will certainly be trying.
HIghly recommended and a pity it couldn't have been longer.
