About this listen

It's 1926. Ernest Hemingway and his wife, Hadley, travel to a villa in the south of France. They swim, play bridge and drink gin. But wherever they go, they are accompanied by the glamorous Fife. Fife is Hadley's best friend. She is also Ernest's lover.

Hadley is the first Mrs. Hemingway, but neither she nor Fife will be the last. Over the ensuing decades, Ernest's literary career will blaze a trail, but his marriages will be ignited by passion and deceit. Four extraordinary women will be forced to ask themselves how far they will go to remain his wife....

Critic reviews

" Mrs. Hemingway is so beautifully written, and evocative, that I could not put it down until the last page." (Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You)

What a brilliant book. Vivid descriptions envoke the intricacies of Hemingway and the women's lives, and you can't help but be interested. Naomi Wood is one of my favourite contemporary authors because she just gets it. The language is rich but not bloated, the story sweeping yet personal. I can't say I'm a Hemingway fan, but this I loved.

Stunning!

I already new this well documented story but this account & narrator Kate Reading brought it to life, glamour & glitz in equal measure sitting alongside Earnest's deceit & demons. Didn't want it to finish...………...

Loved this book!
