About this listen
Two noble teenagers are married against their will. Drugged, Deb has no recollection of events. Disgraced, Julian is banished to the continent. Years later, Deb falls in love with a wounded duelist, only to discover it is her husband, returned incognito! Can Deb forgive his calculated deception? Will their marriage survive beyond seduction?
Set in the opulent world of the aristocracy and inspired by real events, Lucinda Brant delivers another lavish 18th century experience in her trademark style - heart-wrenching drama with a happily ever after.

It took me a while to get into this novel. The beginning of it (prologue), was disconcerting and the first few chapters were confusing - I guess deliberately so - I had to read and reread them, before pressing on.
Then, the more I read the relationship and interchanges between the Duke and Duchess, the more I felt that I was getting some of the backstory (or maybe the‘Happy Ever After’ story), to Georgette Heyer’s Duke and Duchess of Avon from These Old Shades. Although Julian is no Devil’s Cub! LOL. It’s the same era and VERY SIMILAR characters (even Valentine has echoes of Rupert), so it was a strange experience for me.
Julian and Debra’s story is far from straightforward, smooth or uncomplicated. It takes a long (unnecessary) time for them to have a full and frank conversation, but it doesn’t detract from the overall story, which was very enjoyable - eventually.
Interesting, Exciting, Enjoyable...

What did you like most about Midnight Marriage: A Georgian Historical Romance?
The entire story was an emotive one. From the very beginning where the lead characters are married off unwillingly to each other, to the very end (I'll not give spoilers) the story was captivating. I would have loved listening to the whole thing in one go, but it was a bit long for that. Three nights saw it all listened to, and I am sure to listen to it again. I really loved it.What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Marriage: A Georgian Historical Romance?
I can't tell what my most memorable parts are because that would give spoilers, but there were a couple of tear jerk moments for me, happy tears and sad. If a story can make me that emotional then it is perfect. What does Alex Wyndham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Alex Wyndham being an actor makes him the perfect narrator. Or as described, he performs the book. He brings the characters to life, and his normal narrative voice between the characters' parts is so smooth and a pleasure to listen to. His female voices are as believable as his mens' voices, and each one is totally different to the other. He has to be the best narrator/performer of an audibook I have heard so far. Listening to him read the story made it like watching a film, so easy to picture the characters, and to fully understand the emotions each one is feeling. It's so much nicer than reading the book myself. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were a few beautifully written moments that I think Lucinda Brant is is a natural at. Her books are always so emotive, so to team up with Alex Wyndham to read them, they are just perfection.Any additional comments?
I would fully recommend this book both for the beauty of the characters and their interactions during the story, the whole storyline was captivating, and for the perfect narration/performance of Alex Wyndham.Beautiful Story

I am currently bingeing on the Roxton family, having discovered Lucinda's books through her Alex Halsey series, then seeing the seeing the description of Noble Satyr as her homage to Bridgette Heyer's 'These Old Shades'. So dipped into that and the Salt Hendon series and now I am hooked and cannot be happier about it. 😃
You had me at Lucinda Grant narrator Alex Wyndham

My only concern is that this is noted in Amazon as Book 1 whereas the story begins at Book 8, so perhaps this could be remedied.
The narration by Alex Wyndham is as perfect as ever and I hope he does them all.
Enjoy!
Wonderful book

Would you listen to Midnight Marriage: A Georgian Historical Romance again? Why?
Arguably one of the best historical romances available. It ticks all the boxes. What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Marriage: A Georgian Historical Romance?
The carriage ride is not only highly amusing but displays the arrogant main male character's polish and class in a most fascinating way. What about Alex Wyndham’s performance did you like?
Alex Wyndham's performances are nothing short of genius. A truly amazingly talented actor whose depths have no limit.Any additional comments?
Having exhausted most of Brant's work, this is by far the greatest story line with an interesting prologue that delivers a peculiar basis to keep you gripped throughout the chapters. Highly recommended!By far the best of Lucinda Brant
