Summary

Microbiology is a fascinating field that explores life down to the tiniest level. Did you know that your body contains more bacteria cells than human cells? It's true. Microbes are essential to our everyday lives, from the food we eat to the very internal systems that keep us alive. These microbes include bacteria, algae, fungi, viruses, and nematodes. Without microbes, life on Earth would not survive. It's amazing to think that all life is so dependent on these microscopic creatures, but their impact on our future is even more astonishing. Microbes are the tools that allow us to engineer hardier crops, create better medicines, and fuel our technology in sustainable ways. Microbes may just help us save the world.

Microbiology for Dummies is your guide to understanding the fundamentals of this enormously-encompassing field. Whether your career plans include microbiology or another science or health specialty, you need to understand life at the cellular level before you can understand anything on the macro scale.

Microbes are literally the foundation of all life, and they are everywhere. Microbiology for Dummies will help you understand them, appreciate them, and use them.

Not for complete dummies

I have a Zoology degree and found I had to set the speed of the narrator down to x0.8. This is a very informative book if you are interested in the subject. Would that recommend for people with a minor interest as it can be very heavy at times.

Deeply disappointing

I love the "For Dummies" series. This is such an engaging book and a fascinating topic, but none of that matters if the delivery is sub-par.

It's not even being read by a human; the text has simply been run through a text-to-speech program (or if it is a human, it's a very good imitation of one!). I'm going to apply for a refund, it's a total waste of money as an audiobook. Better read by yourself.

Informative but the delivery is painful

The book is informative, however I have a background in science, and without former knowledge I think it would be a struggle to understand given some of the terminology requires precious knowledge, and is therefore not truly “for dummies”. The delivery leaves a lot to be desired. It is a fantastic imitation of AI text-to-speech, very robotic. I was listening for fun, however it is glaringly obvious that the reader is not a microbiologist, pronouncing many words incorrectly which was infuriating and made me stop listening after less than an hour.
