Summary

Men are in crisis. From every direction, they are presented with a deformed masculinity. One that sees women as conquests rather than partners. One that values success at work over success at home. One that hinders true and open friendships with other men who hold them up and hold them accountable. One that presents them as either the bumbling, disconnected dad in sitcoms or the predator in movies and video games (and the news). Men were made for more than this. It's time to rekindle the fire living inside of them and awaken them to the value of valiant, righteous manhood.

Through inspiring stories and hard-hitting biblical truths, Stephen Mansfield uncovers the seven fires that ought to burn in a man's soul - the fires of destiny, heritage, friendship, love, battle, legacy, and God. This raw guide to the restoration of a noble, honorable manhood will challenge men of every generation to live well, invest in others, and leave a powerful legacy.

Really Enjoyed This Book

After hearing Mansfield interviewed on a podcast I felt inclined to purchase the book he was advertising. I'm not one who typically likes to study or read books about being a man. My background has lended me insight into the topic that causes me to not frequently be able to identify with writers on the subject. For me it often feels like authors have suffered from their own feelings of inadequacy but learned to have a higher self-esteem and subsequently are now trying to encourage other men to not be pansies. And, quite frankly, the perspective does not resonate with me.

This book was different. I didn't find myself cringing as I listened to the author's position on what it means to really be a man or the importance of those friends within your more intimate sphere. A few times, I felt my own perspectives being challenged and in some ways even enlightened. And I appreciated his intentionality. He wasn't over the top trying to posture himself as Superman or some kind of man's man that everyone needs to emulate, and his Insight did not seem to be rooted in an attempt to be more manly. I don't know Mansfield, I've never met him or had any other exposure to him apart from this book yet my perspective is he's a balanced dude with a deep well of wisdom on the subject.

Something to relight your spiritual pilot light

It's easy to get complacent and not look out for ourselves. As dads, taking care of everyone else before us comes with the job. Its easy to let that inner pilot light go out and just simply exist. This book will help pull you out of that by sending you down the right path. by the end you'll feel like the author is an old friend and wish he was a part of your own "band of brothers".

Excellent

This book’s teachings make so much sense, but sadly at this time in our demented culture, it takes courage & clarity to teach them. Well done.

A Christian Perspective for us apl

I am not a follower of God. in fact, I am a Buddhist. However, I found great value in Stephen's lessons in this book. It inspired me to look at my role as a husband, father, and a man and he helped me see the importance of it all. Regardless of your race, religion, color, or favorite food, there is a fire to be harnessed in all of us and Mr. Mansfield illustrates that beautifully.

Must Listen and Read!

All men and women would do well to listen to this book. It is not just okay to be a man, it’s vitally necessary that righteous men rise up and reshape this world. Thank you Mr. Mansfield for taking the time to write and read this book. I am better for it and have begun assembling my band of brothers.
