The revolutionary movement behind the explosive growth of Intel, Google, Amazon and Uber.
With a foreword by Larry Page, and contributions from Bono and Bill Gates.

Measure What Matters is about using Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), a revolutionary approach to goal-setting, to make tough choices in business.

In 1999, legendary venture capitalist John Doerr invested nearly $12 million in a startup that had amazing technology, entrepreneurial energy and sky-high ambitions, but no real business plan. Doerr introduced the founders to OKRs and with them at the foundation of their management, the startup grew from forty employees to more than 70,000 with a market cap exceeding $600 billion. The startup was Google.

Since then Doerr has introduced OKRs to more than fifty companies, helping tech giants and charities exceed all expectations. In the OKR model objectives define what we seek to achieve and key results are how those top priority goals will be attained. OKRs focus effort, foster coordination and enhance workplace satisfaction. They surface an organization's most important work as everyone's goals from entry-level to CEO are transparent to the entire institution.

In Measure What Matters, Doerr shares a broad range of first-person, behind-the-scenes case studies, with narrators including Bono and Bill Gates, to demonstrate the focus, agility, and explosive growth that OKRs have spurred at so many great organizations.

This audiobook will show you how to collect timely, relevant data to track progress - to measure what matters. It will help any organization or team aim high, move fast, and excel.
'I'd recommend John's book for anyone interested in becoming a better manager', Bill Gates

Very good advice, unnecessarily long manuscript

It reminds me of Ritch Dad Por Dad.. the basic idea is good, and quite simple... so the book is unnecessarily long

A Masterpiece for startups and other organizations

In this exceptional piece, Johen Doerr has presented the framework for Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that is an anecdote for vagueness when working on a Startup or any other organization. I know reflect on many organizations (especially governmental) that have lived for decades without having any impact - what they have lacked is OKRs. They remained delusional in doing the so called daily work without concretely pursuing a clear goal in a time-bound fashion. Have a north star goal, set clear objectives (annual) and pursue those using KRs (quarterly) while maintaining clarity and priority across the organization.

valuable book!

An interesting concept for prioritizing whats important and whats not. Though the whole book is repeating itself a lot just with different examples

Great detail and good stories

Goes into detail on how OKR’s can be used in businesses of all sizes.

It was a helpful insight in to how we will implement them in our own organisation.

A useful listen

Stories got a bit samey - reluctance at first, company changed, good things happen. You can't argue with the results though. There are certainly some quotable lines in there.

Highest rate management insight

Left inspired by the achievements of those using OKRs. Probably a little long on the car study content for me. Would have preferred it more concise. Well worth listening for all those set in making more of their professional lives.

a must read for entrepreneurs

makes lots of sense, and despite not easy to implement correctly in some type of companies, it makes think of review processes and alignment between resources
