Summary

Ian Ross has worked hard all his life, and finally, he’s seeing the results: a prosperous ranch in Wise River, Montana, with a beautiful home he shares with his elderly parents, plus a sweet and pretty Mail Order Bride on the way.

But when his newly built home, the pride of Ross Hollow Ranch, burns down overnight, everything goes sour. Suddenly, Ian is back where he started, scrounging for supplies, and living in a hastily built shack. The last thing he wants or needs is the responsibility of a wife in the middle of winter.

But when Maude Smith arrives from Boston, Ian finds himself in a quandary. Calling off the engagement seems like the right thing to do. So why is he so jealous when his cousin Felix starts paying attention to Maude?

Christmas is just around the corner, and Ian is doing his best to face the future with courage. But he has some hard lessons to learn: pride can be dangerous, and it isn’t the building that makes a house a home.

I loved the narration of Shannon Nicole Locke, who just knows how to bring out the emotion, characters and story. Making this a very enjoyable listen. Perfect.

Ian has worked hard all his life, and the results have come to a end. He has a prosperous ranch in Wise River, Montana. All he needs now is his Mail Order Bride Maude to arrive. But fate takes away, what he has worked so hard for. A fire burns down, his range and Ian is back where he started. Trying to find supplies, and building a shack.
When Maude arrives from Boston, Ian finds himself in wanting to call off the engagement. What can he offer her. But jealousy soon arises when his cousin Felix starts paying attention to Maude. Will Ian's pride stop his chance of a new beginning.

Nice!

This is a nice sweet short story. Good characters and well described story. The main character Ian needed a good kick in the rear but eventually he got the plot. Shannon is a great narrator and did a really good job of this one. Highly recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review.
