About this listen
Congratulations, you’ve taken the plunge and convinced your boss that working remotely from a home-based office is the way to go! Whatever reason you’ve chosen to make this life-altering career choice, it’s important that you enter this phase of your life by hitting the ground running!
I chose to switch to working from home to place my family first, after dedicating 12-years of my life to working the conventional nine-to-five life, commuting to the office, and getting the work done. Over those 12 years, I missed many precious "firsts" with my two kids. These are things that no matter how hard I work, I can never get back again.
This was my main reason, and my wake-up call. The time when I finally realized that there was more to life than wasting hours every day commuting back and forwards to an office, when I could actually produce the same high-quality work from home. Fortunately, I was able to convince the executives within my organization that I could be just as effective, if not more so, by working from a home office.
That was five years ago, and I sure wish that at the time, there had been someone out there who had some of the tips, tools, and techniques that I’m going to share with you! It wasn’t all sunshine and roses at first, and it took a steep learning curve for me to find my rhythm and balance. Not only when it came to my work/life balance, but also how to set up your work environment to be productive from day one!
I’m going to share time management advice and how to get the most out of your day, every day, even when that means taking time out to support your family with things that are important to them. After all, that was my main reason for choosing to get out of the conventional nine to five rat race: I was tired of missing out on watching my children grow.
In Master Working from Home Successfully: More than 100 Must Know Tips for Every Home Office Worker, I am going to give you a complete breakdown of everything that you need to succeed in your home-based work. Whether you’ve been given the opportunity to work remotely for someone else or for a corporation, or you think that you have what it takes to set up your own business, working from home, many of these tips will help you establish a business that’s not only credible, but one that can also prove to be successful.
One of the most important messages that I’d like to get across is that even though you’re working from home, the emphasis still needs to be placed on the fact that you’re meant to be working and be productive for a certain number of hours each day. As long as you’re able to do this and can manage your time effectively, this will help you to not only develop discipline, but it will prove to those you work for that you can be trusted and are a valued asset to their business.
These tips have been compiled thanks to steep learning curves that I’ve had to experience for myself and figure out the hard way. My main aim is that these will help you develop habits that will last and propel you towards lasting business success.

Plenty of golden nuggets for anyone working from home
This is a must read book for anyone wanting to or already working from home. I wish I read this book when it first came out. Working from home sounds simple but to work professionally, I would suggest you read this book first. Simple yet effective techniques.

Great guide especially in the Covid Era
I've been working from home on and off for the last few years so wasn't sure how relevant this book would be. However, there were some great tips in here that I hadn't thought of before. I can definitely relate to trips to the kitchen can equal an expanding waistline. That's one I'm sure to act on.
I also like how Gary spells out that working from home is a privilege and not a right and that we should ensure we keep that privilege by following the many ideas set out in this book.

A must-read for anyone working from home
Everyone who spends any time at all based at home while juggling their work would benefit from reading this. I passed it onto my partner too, as the writer made it clear it's a team effort. Really well explained, extremely relevant and empathetically written, I realised I had been making some fundamental mistakes without even realising it. And I've worked from home for years! I wish I'd read or listened to it a long time ago. The audiobook is really easy to listen to.

An excellent book with timely relevance
With business/employment practices at a likely turning point due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, this is a book with particular relevance. While directed primarily at those with lengthy commutes, advanced careers and growing families, even those whose lives are NOT dramatically impacted by the distance between their home and an office space, will find interesting insights here. Many of us have been working from home on a short term basis during the "lockdown", but those who would like to make this arrangement more permanent will find a lot of food for thought. For example, about use of equipment, online security measures, managing your time and avoiding tempting distractions. Garry Bryant has an easy, warm style in his writing that will make him relatable to white collar workers of all levels. (I'm not nearly as successful as Mr Bryant, but as someone who has been benefitting from a partial home working arrangement for several years, I can relate to a number of the points he raises.) Finally, narrator Tim Shoesmith is to be commended for his excellent reading. This is a very well produced audiobook and comes highly recommended.
