Some days, my thoughts felt like static I couldn’t shut off. School, friends, pressure—it all just blurred together. This audiobook felt like someone was finally sitting beside me, calm and steady, showing me how to breathe through it. The tools were simple, not preachy, and they actually helped me feel a bit more in control. I didn’t feel judged, just supported. When things start to spin again, I come back to this—it feels like being reminded I’m not broken.

I bought this for my nephew who’s been struggling with stress and big emotions. The workbook is clear and doesn’t feel overwhelming—it breaks down CBT and DBT in a way that teens can actually relate to. He’s been using the exercises daily and says it helps him stay calmer and more in control. It’s a solid tool for any teen who wants to build better coping skills without the usual confusion around therapy jargon.

What I liked is how it doesn’t just talk about emotions, it gives teens actual things to do when they’re stressed, overwhelmed, or just trying to figure stuff out. It breaks down CBT and DBT in a way that makes sense, without sounding like a textbook. The exercises are short, to the point, and you can start using them right away. It covers everything from anxiety to self-talk to setting boundaries, and it keeps it real the whole way through. If a teen is struggling and needs something that speaks their language, this workbook gives them solid tools that actually work.

I got this for my teenage niece who’s been dealing with anxiety and emotional ups and downs. What surprised me most is how practical and easy the exercises are—nothing overwhelming or complicated. It’s been great seeing her use the techniques on her own, especially during stressful school days. I’ve even tried a few of the tools myself and found them helpful. It’s one of the few resources that doesn’t feel like a lecture. Definitely worth it.

I got this workbook to help support a teen in my life who has been feeling overwhelmed lately, and it’s been a great resource. It breaks things down in a way that’s easy to understand and actually useful, not clinical or confusing. The tools feel accessible and relevant, covering real situations teens face like stress, anxiety, and tough social stuff.

What stood out to me was how action-focused it is. It’s not just explaining what emotions are, it’s showing how to handle them in the moment. If you're looking for something that teaches emotional skills without being heavy-handed, this is a solid, practical guide teens can really connect with.

As an educator of teens, I am often on the lookout for books that help them deal with the sturm and drang that is teen life. This book stands out, as it delivers on elements that I find essential: speaking to the teen with empathy and without condescension, providing established strategies and tools in an accessible way that also helps the teen to understand how to integrate them into a busy life, providing analogies and examples that prime the brain to learn and understand, and helping the listener to know why and how the strategies can work rather than just expecting that the teen should trust you just because you are an adult who has written a book. I also find the book well organized into digestible parts, such as understanding emotions, dealing with challenges, strengthening relationships, and the like. Among the different parts and their component chapters, there is always new information and overlap, which (like analogies and examples) are helpful for learning.

I am the oldest of seven kids and my six younger siblings are still mostly in their teen years or haven’t quite hit them yet. I know firsthand what kind of difference could’ve been made if I’d had resources and guides like this available and placed in my hands to help me navigate emotional control and the ability to push through difficult circumstances. Resilience is another really big character trait that I didn’t quite possess when I was at age. However, this book does an incredible job of encouraging and guiding the reader to a life where one is in control. All of this information was useful and applicable to me too, even though this book and workbook is labeled “for teens“. It definitely had them in mind, but this information is solid and helps build a good foundation regardless.

Got this book with my siblings in mind!
