About this listen

Chris Faulkner has just landed the job of his dreams. But Shorn Associates are market leaders in Conflict Investment. They expect results; they expect the best.

Chris has one very high-profile kill to his name already, but he will have to drive hard and go for kill after kill if he's to keep his bosses happy. All he has to do in the meantime is stay alive....

Morgan's new futuristic thriller is perfect for any fan of the modern thriller. It combines the big ideas of Michael Crichton with a pounding narrative drive.

Really enjoyed this book, very dark and felt very much like a dark future could look like. Didn't like the main protagonist, but I feel that was intentional.

Very dark and far to realistic..

Utterly outstanding writing from Richard K Morgan, I can't wait to see what he releases next.

Instant favourite

Morgan’s grip of the near-future is often thrilling. Could do without his attempts at “erotic” writing. It sucks and doesn’t swallow. The narration is inexcusable. There are plenty of voice over artists who can manage Jamaican accents. Latinex accents are well, which were worse. Really pulls you out of the flow of the story.

Good writing. Horrendous narration.

Good book once you start thinking like the author, liked the altered carbon series and thin air was a good book. the narrator is good, proper British accent lol hope more of his books come out on audible as I listen as I drive. perfect 👌

stick with it

I picked this up from a recommendation on an no-line forum. The premise is different (no spoilers) but still semi-credible. The characters are shocking but believable and the narration is first rate. I thoroughly recommend this audiobook!

Very different and truly surprising

What a thrilling ride!

satisfyingly stoic anti-hero takes the bull by the horns and learns much about himself along the way.
A quick study takes to the road and faces annihilation with gusto.

Visceral and unapplologetic, a well imagined story

I really enjoyed the Altered Carbon series but this was just sexist and over simplistic. Some nice ideas but the road racing thing was dull. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Good narration but too sexist and simplistic

This is littered with foul language all through the first five chapters , especially the female characters .
l have had to stop listening to this book thereby wasting a credit because of the the author’s inability to build his characters without resorting to foul language . The BBC give foul language warnings when listing their offerings , can long standing customers like me , and , I’m sure other customers please be warned before they waste their money on trash like this .

a foul language warning would be appreciated ,
