Summary

Faking this relationship should be a piece of cake.

Retta Majors is having a bad day - but that’s to be expected when your ex gets engaged to your cousin. Instead of (totally) freaking out, Retta decides to attend the wedding with her amazing, faithful, and handsome boyfriend. One problem....He doesn’t exist.

Duncan Gilmore is living his dream. His boxing gym is open for business, and he’s focused on success. The last thing on his mind is a relationship. That is, until the beautiful baker next door makes him an offer so bizarre, he can’t refuse. One weekend of pretending to be Retta’s boyfriend should be easy.

However, shared kisses and some flirting start to blur the lines in their fake relationship. When their performance draws to a close, will they go their separate ways, or return for an encore?

This novel is a standalone.

Content notes: A pregnant secondary character.

Dry

I bought this book because of the narrators. Adenrele and Emmanuel are amazing. But this storyline was so dry. I restarted this book twice because I fell asleep. There just wasn't anything interesting or note worthy about this book. I tried, I really did, but this was just not an engaging storyline. This story had potential and the narrators gave a great performance, but this story was just boring.

It’s a No for me

Don’t waste your credit very dry and very predictable one of the worst books that I listen to since I’ve had audible.

Familiar Plot, Fresh Telling

This novel was lovely. Quick read. Awesome narration. Great story. It was familiar. You know, we pretend to date and fall in love. Yet, it had some fresh departures from the norm. I love their #meetcute. His parents’ story was adult and real. I loved how he finally came around to accepting his love for her. Easy, breezy, sexy, #hea.

Great Story

I like that this book brought forward issues that can occur in real life; this brought a taste of reality to the forefront. The narrators did a great job with characters; however, Ms. Ojo does not narrate well for male characters. Worth a credit!

Overall it’s just ok

I kept waiting for something exciting to happen and It never did. It wasn’t a horrible read but it wasn’t a page turner either.

So cute!

I wasn't sure what to expect, having never experienced this author before. But this was a cute little love story and I truly enjoyed it. I felt like the ending was abrupt, but other than that, it was engaging and enjoyable.

Good story!

Such a cute story! It was a little surface, I would have liked a little more depth in the storyline. I enjoyed the read, though!

Loved this book!!!

I loved this book, and Retta and Duncan. It was sweet, and the story felt lived in. I hope we get to explore the characters in this universe further. I’d love to see Gwen and Anthony’s story soon.
