Fantastic!

What an interesting book! The scene of a gruesome murder that reveals the victims, a catatonic woman and a few weeks old baby. The police realise their main witness, and potential suspect, needs psychological assistance and they call in Dr. Donna DeShayne. Her unique experiences and ability to read circumstances brings to light the cult aspects to this unusual scenario. But with each piece of the puzzle she and the detectives uncover, the plot only becomes more complex.

You can tell by the way the story is executed and the attention to detail that Bella Fayre has really researched and planned the book. The plot has been carefully choreographed to tittilate the readers and lead them in one direction while simultaneously developing in unexpected ways.

The narration is fantastic! I just do not know how Kelley Hazen does it; I get so lost in her performances that I forget that only one woman is giving so much texture and dimension to the story. Each character has his or her own voice that reflects his or her personality. Books performed by this narrator tend to be great fun to listen to!

I am just so glad this is the first book in the series. I am looking forward to listening to more mysteries with Dr DeShayne. I love her intelligence which is tempered with empathy and even a bit of tragedy and look forward to more of the same in exciting new adventures!
