About this listen

A senseless vicious murder in West London starts a reign of horrific attacks on young women, leaving the police clueless as to the motive behind them. As a pattern emerges, Detectives Andy Martins and Charlotte Campbell begin to piece together a profile of the killer. The killings lead them to a suspect who has a unrelenting motive for killing these women. Despite the killer leaving them clues, they are running out of time to stop him. Can they get a step ahead before his final act that will end his mission?

Launching his literary career with this troubling yet thrilling listen, what truly sets this novel apart is how the author demonstrates the pervasive and scary potential of social media. Appealing to all those who are looking for something more menacing than a regular whodunnit, Denis McCarthy has launched his literary career with murderous gusto, and in the process, has created an eager audience keen to pick up a copy of his next offering.

A psychological thriller that draws listeners in from the outset, Lyngate Woods is made all the more disturbing by the fact its protagonist engages with his victims’ families whilst undertaking his murderous deeds. An impressive first work of published fiction, the author has centred on the perception of moral justices, when empathy disappears from human relationships.

What a find - deliciously dark

This was such an amazing listen so dark that it worked so well and I just had to keep listening (and straight onto book 2). Sometimes I did find the accents funny but it overall worked so well. The story itself was so dark but with so many twists - a really good old fashioned crime thriller and working out how it was going to be finalised. The ending was brilliant really unexpected.

Awesome!

I really enjoyed the paperback of this gripping psyychological thriller - the audiobook takes it to a new level and brings it so much to life. Can't wait to listen to the sequel!

Lyngate Woods

This is a well written and researched thriller. A serial killer is loose in London and is taking revenge on victims who look like the woman who dumped him. It is very graphic and not for the feint hearted. Fast paced and edge of the seat listening throughout. Rachael Cheeseman's superb narration adds to the overall enjoyment of this great first novel from Denis McCarthy. I look forward to more in future.
I was kindly given a copy of the book and leave this honest review.
