Summary
As a private banker working for the largest bank in the world, UBS, Bradley Birkenfeld was an expert in Switzerland's shell-game of offshore companies and secret numbered accounts. He wined and dined ultrawealthy clients whose millions of dollars were hidden away from business partners, spouses, and tax authorities. As his client list grew, Birkenfeld lived a life of money, fast cars, and beautiful women, but when he discovered that UBS was planning to betray him, he blew the whistle to the US government.
The Department of Justice scorned Birkenfeld's unprecedented whistle-blowing and attempted to silence him with a conspiracy charge. Yet Birkenfeld would not be intimidated. He took his secrets to the US Senate, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Internal Revenue Service, where he prevailed. His bombshell revelations helped the US Treasury recover over $15 billion (and counting) in back taxes, fines, and penalties from American tax cheats. But Birkenfeld was shocked to discover that at the same time he was cooperating with the US government, the Department of Justice was still doggedly pursuing him. He was arrested and served 30 months in federal prison. When he emerged, the Internal Revenue Service gave him a whistle-blower award for $104 million, the largest such reward in history.

Good story
Have to disregard some parts as an author is suggesting speculation when someone connects the dots and yet uses the same method when it comes down to him.

Interesting and Informative
I really enjoyed the story, which at times felt like a James Bond novel, but the author’s self-praise became a bit annoying at times. You will likely enjoy this book if you enjoyed Barbarians At The Gate and Den Of Thieves.

The World owes Bradley Big Time
What a story, brilliantly told with such clarity exposing some of the things we thought we knew and naming some of the people that are held by some in such high esteem. These people are consumed by greed and masquerade as being people of high principles. What a Joke!!

Brilliant entertainment.
The title is,in no way designed to demean the story but to express the enthusiasm with which I donned my earphones for my dog walks. The story is excellently written and delivered with feeling and pace. I have already recommended this to a number of my friends.

One of the best.
Without doubt one of the best books I have listened to. Reads like a triller and scares the life out of you because it is fact.
The oration was first class
Whatever about Bradley’s Hammer inc he has a career in writing.

What a waste of time!
I Listened in the hope that this totally self absorbed writer would redeem himself. It did not happen. Sadly the hours spent listening to this are non refundable. This lacked any connection between author and listener. You win some, you lose some.

Self Serving Narrative
If you have been in or near this industry, you will recognize this man's narrative is dishonest, and sculpted to paint him as the hero. He is a crook who turned snitch for pay. However, the first half of the book was entertaining.

A personal favorite
A personal favorite. The books takes you on a journey through the world of high banking. Bradley Birkenfeld is a man who has lived many lives and shares the wisdom he’s gained from it. Yes, he is petty at times, but wouldn’t you be?
I really hope there’s a version read by him.
Highly recommended

Great story
An excellent story about how dysfunctional / corrupt our government is. Well worth the read, think about how you vote, not that it really matters, they all seem the same

Not Bad, not great
It is not the worst book, the story could have been told different . The author spends way to much time defending himself, he is just a rat. Should have gotten more time.

F this guy
I never write reviews. At least some of this guys clients were effectively entrapped by him into offshoring funds in ubs Geneva. He then gets into a hissy fit huff with his boss and proceeds to only then have a crisis of conscience. He returns to the us and hands over the list of individuals with off shore accounts- some of which were clearly entrapped into the activity by the author. This guy has no insight into how much of a scummy dic he is. This guy is a dic.

Read Shell Game After
Great book. After you’ve read this read Shell Game by Scott Bennett. It’s goes even further to what was in these accounts and who’s who. Interesting BB never mentioned him from their time together in Club Fed, Bennett does.

Confirms how corrupt our government really is
The author strikes me as a puffed up jackass - but I believe his story, found it riveting, and so wish his exposing the corruption of the truly power made a real difference. It's maddening that some people are treated as too big to jail while the little guy gets crushed.

Interesting and compelling Financial Crime Whistleblower Story
Interesting and compelling financial crime whistleblower true crime story. Great mix of an autobiographical account with politics and sprinkles of global conspiracies. Enjoyed the story as well as the reading performance. Recommended!
