Story
When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Summary
Available in audio first, this hot, hilarious stand-alone will keep you wildly entertained!
Welcome to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shape-shifters, vampires, witches, and dragons live alongside humans. The town formed around the mysterious energy rift in the bayou, which helps keep the town’s magic in balance. But lately the rift has been widening and destabilizing - threatening to send the town’s magical population into chaos.
Energy witch Danica Teel has been sent by the League to figure out what’s going on, with the help of bear-shifter Mayor Zed. While working on the case, Zed falls head over paws for Dani, but she’s reluctant to engage in anything beyond a roll in his cave. Dani’s family is counting on her to get the job done, and she has no time for distractions. But when an ominous presence begins stalking Dani through the bayou, they’ll need to band together to make it out alive.

Not as good as first book
I have to say I was sadly disappointed by this book. I had been really looking forward to this as I usually love Molly Harper's books, and the first book of this series was great, but this fell short for me. I didn't really like Danica as a character, I found her rather tiresome and annoying, which meant I didn't really care about her at all, and the story itself was rather slow and lacklustre. The book was over halfway through before it felt like something actually happened, then it went back to just dragging along for a while before anything happened again. A real shame as, like I said, I'm a huge fan of Molly Harper and this could have been great, but it just wasn't.

Book 2 in the series was good as the first. It nice to see characters from the previous book as well as meeting new ones. The book had a few well written 'adult' moments and was funny too in places. The narrators did a great job. Looking forward to the rest of the series

Really fun story with great narration
Loved it a great fun story with some laugh out loud moments, great characters Dani and Zed compliment each other perfectly,. she is ballsy, relationship adverse with a sarcastic sense of humour, he is a neat freak bear shifter with wants a mate. Loved the narration they both do a wonderful job. Highly recommended and I hope to see more in this series as some questions remain unanswered.

Enjoyable characters that make you want more
Having listened to and enjoyed the first book from this series I thought it only right to listen to the second. Whilst I think the story plot of the first was better than this one as far as stand alone stories go I still enjoyed this one and think it sets up for a bigger future plot well. The narrators are great and make the characters enjoyable. I loved Zed in the first story so it was good to see plenty of him in this one.

I love Zed, he is such a brilliant character and you cannot fail to fall in love with him! Danica is an interesting character with a complex background and lots to deal with but Molly Harper manages to merge all her characters into the town of Mystic Bayou so seamlessly you just know that it is all going to work out well ... in the end.

Disappointing Follow Up
I'd never read anything by Molly Harper before I listened to How to Date Your Dragon - and I really liked it. It was funny, and the community of Mystic Bayou was interesting and unique. I also thought the narrators voices were awesome - they added so much to the story. Unfortunately this second book doesn't measure up.
First, there's almost no humor here. The clever dialogue is missing, and Zed's personality disappeared. He was my favorite character in the first book, but here I just found him embarrassing. As far as the community goes, it's an exact repeat of the first book, from the crawfish boil to 'Why can't I choose my own pie?' Worst of all, there's no plot. At the 30% mark literally nothing had happened. At all. Oh, there's lust from Zed and angst from Dani, and lots of talk about pie, but that's not plot.
Finally, I had to look and see if the male narrator had changed. He hasn't, but Zed's warm drawl is completely gone. I don't know what happened but it sounds like a different, less talented reader.
I'm so sad about this book. I'll just have to re-listen to the first one whenever I want to visit Mystic Bayou again.

Adorable story
Molly always writes such cute and funny books. I always look forward to her new releases. The book is a continuation of the series and keeps all the original characters involved. I always hate when authors steer away from the characters in previous books. I like to know what happens to everyone, not just new characters. Molly really makes the story come alive. You can always close your eyes and picture each person and see the town. She does such a great job with just enough descriptive information to make a picture, but not enough to make you need to skip forward. Lol. Great job, and adorable story Molly!!

Good book, but too similar to the first
It was good, but I liked the first audiobook in this series better. I guess this one was kind of redundant, and too similar to the first. It was almost the same story, in the same place, with the same people, just starring a different couple. Would've been nice to have different narrators than the first book. Not that these ones are bad, they're actually awesome. It's just that you're used to them being Jillian and Bayou. Would've at least changed things up a bit. Don't get me wrong though, it wasn't a bad book at all. I enjoyed it and I'll definitely be continuing on to the last audiobook in this series and then others by Molly Harper.

Repeats More Than Builds
This second installment repeats more than builds off the first book. It doesn't bother me enough to put me off from reading the next in the series but I did feel disappointed. The main couple of the romance stars Zed, who I adored from the first volume didn't seem to hold the same luster, banter, and play he did in book, and Danica whose concept intrigued me but never seemed to fully come out into her potential. The mystery in this felt predictable but also belabored. This books had periods where it felt like it dragged some and didn't hold the same fun pace I found in book one. I really love what was established about the Mystic Bayou in book one but didn't feel like we saw any growth in this volume. I do enjoy the dual narration and what they do with the characters however. I will continue to read the series but this one left me wanting after such a good first book. Again this is a lighter shorter style supernatural romance from Harper's other books, but this one lacked in the story, humor, and details that the first one displayed so well.

cajun vernacular pronunciation
I am an unabashed fan of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi, and Jonathan Davis seems fine. But for the love of all that is holy, please get your cajun pronunciations correct. It's incredibly distracting. For example, there is no "boo-deen" in Louisiana. The pronunciation of (what I presume was intended to be boudin) is "boo-dah", where the "dah" has the 'a' sound like the name Dan. I love the Louisiana setting, but when it's peppered with Cajun lexicon, the words have to sound more authentic. Please and thank you!

Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi are the most perfect combination! Jonathan Davis is N excellent addition to the alchemy of Harper and Ronconi.
Molly Harpers humor and willingness to let her characters be imperfect, humorous and genuine makes her books a great go to time and time again. I can’t wait until the next time she lets us go to Mystic Bayou!

Love this series ...
I’m soooooo sad the 3rd book is not out. I even think I know who our next heroine will be ;) This story was even more fun and adorable than Jill and Bael’s story. Zeb has a lazy sexy vibe and an Dani was intelligent and sassy. Again I was not overwhelmed by the paranormal-ness of this little world MH has created. It’s just enough para-facts to get legit and allow the town, the quirky characters, the pies and the love to shine. There is also not and over abundance of waxing poetic about para-hotness. The hero’s are of course tall and dreamy but you fall in love with their wit and determination the banter is really enjoyable between all the characters. The mystery continues from book one into this and was left open enough to move into another novel. But it’s not a cliff hanger. The mystery unfolds quietly almost in this one kinda an unimportant character it seems until it’s boom front and center and your like omg all the neatly placed little clues have just come together. Can’t wait for more I’m really enjoying these.
Again the audio was very well done the many characters voices and accents preformed by just two readers was really something lots of talent and a quality recording.

Too disappointed to enjoy!
I got this series for two reasons. It was free. It reminded me of home. so the first book was great soft cajun accents funny eccentric characters. however if you're looking for those things in this book you're slowly disappointed. maybe it's different if you read it instead of listening to the audio. but this audiobook is a great big disappointment. Cajun accents are gone even when they're speaking French words, weird. The plots the same as the first book. so why even read it at all. I'm going to continue with the rest of the series because like I said again free but do I recommend this particular book no am I less inclined to recommend the series at all yes very much so.

disappointed in this one
This was almost painful and I quit listening after 3 chapters. Slow and dull even at 1.5 speed.
