Summary
The riveting memoirs of the outstanding moral and political leader of our time, Long Walk to Freedom brilliantly recreates the drama of the experiences that helped shape Nelson Mandela's destiny. From his beginning in the Transkei to his being taken to Robben Island, this is the remarkable story of how a man rose so far, only to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Emotive and compelling, this is the story of an epic life.
This audiobook includes a foreword written and read by Kofi Annan, Nelson Mandela's Presidential Oath of Office, an afterword from Sharon Gelman, and an interview with Long Walk to Freedom collaborator Richard Stengel.
Critic reviews
"Enthralling...Mandela emulates the few great political leaders such as Lincoln and Gandhi, who go beyond mere consensus and move out ahead of their followers to break new ground" (Donald Woods in the Sunday Times)

I've read the book several times but that did not take away from my enjoyment of hearing Madiba's story again! So inspirational!

Superb, BUT please add chapter names. Want to reference back.
Add chapter names. Then it’ll be superb. For now it’s good but not structured for referencing back

A wonderfully moving, challenging and powerful account
There was so much of the back story related to South Africa that I did not know therefore I did not understand it either. I think the picture of SA painted by the media here in the UK fed into the colonial bias as well.
A truly brilliant book.

Brilliant content, poor narration
This is a superb autobiography. One of the best political autobiographies I’ve come across.
BUT they should have used a South African actor to read it… Michael Boatman’s consistently incorrect pronunciation of so many Xhosa, Zulu, and Afrikaans names and words was very irritating and bordering on insulting… as was his attempt to mimic Madiba’s speaking voice.

Simply great and inspirational.
An example for all humanity. Very good insight into Mr Mandela's past before getting involved in politics.

Best leadership story
Great book which chronicles probably the life of the greatest human leader that ever lived. This should be a leadership development text.

Simply Inspirational.
What an amazing story, beautifully told. Madiba is so full of love and forgiving whilst spending a lifetime trying to right the wrongs of apartide.

Worth a listen
Very interesting listen. Seemed to over lap a bit with the first one, but still worth hearing again.
