second chance

I enjoyed loved listening to the dual narration of Tor Thom and Charley Ongel

This is a wonderful second chance of love story. After the loss of her husband LeAnn is in mourning.
You will find your heart strings being pulled at . Brilliantly written characters.

Always so much to the story

I’m always amazed at how much detail that Elaine puts into her books. The twists that are always there making for such a compelling story. Just loved this audiobook because it is written so well. Wow sexy times for entertainment on a cruise, count me in!

It’s been awhile since I heard Tor and Charley and I loved their performances. I really see that they have grown and they did a wonderful job with this book.

I was gifted this audiobook at my request and this is my unbiased opinion.

Very descriptive with lots of thoughts/feelings

This audiobook had constant emotion and description in the narration, though the beginning felt overly dramatic. For example, it starts out really intense to describe a walk. I do like the different narrators for different points of view especially later in the book when the points of view shifted frequently. I didn't like it when it when one characters' thoughts changed voices and it really caught me off guard the first time the other voice abruptly cut in in during a memory.

One of the reasons I chose this book is because I like cruises, but I think that turned out to be a disadvantage. The settings were great for the purposes of the story, but many details that distracted me. For example, only Disney cruises go to Castaway Cay and while Disney cruises do have R rated entertainment, they don't have exotic dancers so she wasn't on a Disney cruise. I've also never carried a wallet around a cruise ship (things were free or charged to the room). I think it's fine to alter details for the sake of the story, but I just would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't known those things.

The story itself included a lot of descriptions and even more thoughts. Lots and lots of thoughts. And feelings. And steamy day dreams. I think it started with about an hour of set up to understand how LeAnn feels at the beginning of the story and there were still 45 minutes remaining when it seemed like the story would be ending. The actual events in the story could be summed up very quickly.

I would recommend Living to readers who want to feel the emotions of the story instead of the events.

Empowering

To date I have to say this is my favorite book by Elaine Marie. I can relate to this storyline, I know her pain how hard it is to move on, how brave it was for her to get on that ship and not forget but take that step into the unknown life ahead.
Tor and Charley did a fantastic job telling this story.

Story about living after tragedy

LeAnn lost her love in a horrible drunk driving accident and she feels like she dies with him. Years later, she realizes that she needs to start living again so she goes on a cruise where she meets Brandon. This is a steamy book, although the back and forth with the guilt then steam causes a bit of whiplash. I also found a few of the scenes quite irrational (for instance, after LeAnn and Brandon, the hero, start a romantic relationship, he overhears her telling someone else she's married. He gets understandably upset and she gets angry that he gets upset without explaining that she's actually widowed. This type of push and pull is seen throughout the book.)

I love the duet narration where the male and female narrators narrate together. It really makes it seem like a movie and makes the book even more enjoyable. Both narrators, Charley Ongel and Tor Thom are good and did a good job with the multiple voices during conversations but during the start of each chapter, I had trouble knowing who they were representing (There were 4-5 points of view represented in the book). Overall, though, this was a strong narration.

Wow! Emotional and moving and damn hot!

This is not what I was expecting and is a very different type of story from Elaine to those I’ve listened to before. From the very beginning I was drawn in to LeAnn’s painful back story and hoping for her HEA. I loved the way we got to see both LeAnn’s side and also Brandon’s, this helped build their characters quicker and made it so hot when they got down to it! I loved the cruise ship setting, this is very different to other stories I’ve read and have it that extra something. The side characters were also strong in this story and helped with the humour. The narration was great from Charley and Tor, I think this might be my favourite of Charley’s she really filled out LeAnn as a character. Overall this is my favourite of Elaine’s so far, I absolutely loved it and will definitely listen to it again and again!

Oh no. Not for me

this book. if not for the narrators I would have dnf'ed it. So not for me. Dont make it sound like you have comitted one of the 7 sins because your husband died in a car crash 4 years agow. It just rubbed me all kindes of wrong.
I kept listening because I like the narrators. But damn it was not good. So sorry about that.

My Thoughts on Living

Living is a very emotional story about a woman who suffered a devastating loss and is struggling to truly live after. She meets a man she can't resist who makes living seem like something worthwhile. It made for a really good listen as this story unfolded. The chosen narrators did a fantastic job and really enhanced the story for me.
