Summary
The thrilling Kay Scarpetta mystery from the #1 Global Bestseller.
Murder and mayhem. Scarpetta is back, and she's racing against the clock...
Chief medical examiner Kay Scarpetta is the reluctant star witness in a sensational murder trial when she receives shocking news. The judge's sister has been found dead. At first glance, it appears to be a home invasion, but then why was nothing stolen, and why is the garden strewn with dead plants and insects?
Although there is no apparent cause of death, Scarpetta recognizes tell-tale signs of the unthinkable, and she knows the worst is yet to come. The forensic pathologist finds herself pitted against a powerful force that returns her to the past, and her time to catch the killer is running out...
Critic reviews
"One of the best crime writers writing today." (Guardian)
"Cornwell knows how to craft a mean page-turner and Livid Is no exception." (Telegraph)
"I'm still seeing stars... Kay Scarpetta is the same grumpy, wonderful, riveting personality she's always been and she's only getting better with time." (James Patterson)

Poor
Yet again sorry to say another book too many. Mostly filler same ending as all books she gets attacked she survives and then two weeks later. Same story some one hates her tries to frame her then she wins out. Started off amazing lost it massively.

Great start - poor ending
Really thought we were back to the original style and quality of the originals, sad to say it was a fantastic 3/4ers great read and then just died at the end and left me wondering what all the build up was for. Like someone said you have a chapter to end the book and that’s it.

Disappointed
Such a shame
So rubbish!!! I expected so
much more from Cornwall. I’ve been a fan for so long, perhaps reading this booking rather than listening on audible would have been better!?

Microwave gun?
I have always been a fan of Scarpetta.
All have been so accurate and factual.
But please, microwave guns. Give me a break!

Gripping till the end.
This didn’t disappoint. Classic Kay Scarpetta. Crime meets tomorrows world, As the plot unfolds, threads start to come together until the final reveal.
As I wrote. Gripping!

Another great Scarpetta story!
Another fab book! Just wish the stories were a bit longer. Feel like I’m just getting back into the world of Scarpetta and it’s over!

Potential Nightmare Scenarios.
I never thought that this way of attacking people was possible, but apparently, it is.

Weak story
Too much description of everything from the weather to government buildings. Doesn’t move the story on just drags it down to a painfully slow pace. Keep hoping the next book will be back to the quality of the early ones but I give up. I no longer care what happens to any of the characters .

not the best scarpetta
not the best scarpetta. the ending seemed very rushed. I know she can write better than that, so it's slightly disappointing.

Very enjoyable
Some poetic license used with the technicalities but a great read nonetheless. Looking forward to the next one already.
