About this listen
When a man dressed in a long priest’s robe and wearing a black, low-crowned, wide-brimmed ecclesiastical hat walked into a Catholic church just prior to the start of a funeral service, stuffed garlic into the deceased’s mouth, and pumped a bullet into the corpse, NYPD Homicide Detective Louis Martelli was as puzzled as he’s ever been on a case. No stranger to the macabre, Martelli is even more mystified by Deputy Coroner Michael Antonetti’s findings, which confirm that the deceased, far from having died of respiratory failure and a possible heart attack, was murdered by someone who injected him with a lethal dose of Philippine cobra venom.
When other, similar deaths are uncovered in and around New York City, the investigation conducted by Martelli and his partner, Detective Sean O’Keeffe, takes a decidedly morbid turn, leading to the discovery of a modern-day vampire cult, a woman named Lilith, and a serial killer with a score to settle.
Who is behind the killings, and can Martelli and O’Keeffe stop him before he kills his last victim and makes good his escape? The answers to these and other questions will be found in this gripping, modern-day tale of vampirism unlike any you have read.

Great detective
I’ve not listened to a detective book in years and thought this was very well written and what I thought could of been supernatural wasn’t.
Bravo for keeping me on tenders till near the end.
Really well narrated too.

classic style mystery
I really enjoyed this book and the classic mystery feel it had to it.
The action and the story were well paced with likeable lead characters that you really wanted to do well.
I think the narrator did a really good job bringing the characters to life, each with their own distinguishing features.

Mystery thriller
The book was what I expected, which isn't a bad thing. I have not read/listened to the first two books in the series, I had not realised when I picked it up that it was the third book, however, I didn't feel I was missing anything.
The narrator was okay but he had trouble sounding the other characters out. They tended to sound the same and it felt like there were two characters in scene instead of four.
Other than this it was not a bad listen.

It's a good story!
The down on this book is the performance of the game narrator, it's quite OK, except when he tries to mimic different characters voices... Sometimes it's quite annoying!
Nevertheless it's a smooth and easy to follow book.
