About this listen

Light on Fire is the soulful exploration of one woman's journey to awakening and becoming a modern-day Christian mystic. It's a compassionate guide that will support others on the path to awakening by offering new insights and practical guidance on how to reconnect with our innate spirituality.

In her search to understand her own spontaneous awakening, Aedamar discovered that awakening is a natural life process from which we have become estranged. In beautifully poetic language, and through accessible philosophy, Aedamar shares how and why we are designed to wake up, and to experience Divine Union, in the ordinary course of life. Waking up is what is now needed to heal ourselves and the deeply rooted traumas of Western society.

Light on Fire concludes with "The Path of Gold", Aedamar's seven-stage guide to awakening that offers a model for rediscovering Divine Love in everyday life. It helps us to reconnect with our spiritual wisdom, which is critical as we enter a new era that uniquely calls us to mysticism and to love.

She puts the spiritual heart back into religion

What a beautiful read. I felt a sense of wholeness and joy after reading this book. Aedamar reminds us that spirituality is at the heart of everything. She offers and elegant description of her own awakening and a guide to stimulate your own. Not being a particularly religious person, seeing Christian religious figure heads as the back bone of the book at first made me a little sceptical. However Aedamar so eloquently puts the spiritual heart back into Christianity. It certainly restored my faith. Thankyou Aedamar.

I just want everyone to read this book!

This is a jewel of a book. This book is a casket of jewels. This is one of those books I want everyone I know and love to read. Truly, I just want the whole world to read it. In it, Aedamar speaks directly to the strange longing I have felt all my life. She explains it, she names it, she reassures me that this is a perfectly natural human condition and she shows me what to do with it. Since listening to her gentle voice reading her own gorgeously crafted words, I have felt a growing calm and clarity about my own way forward after a highly conflicted year (I’m sure a lot of people can relate!). She brings an absolutely essential message to us for our times. The world needs to wake up, and each and every one of us is responsible for our own part in that. Her spiritual journey and awakening events are experienced through a Christian lens, but this book is about a direct relationship with a higher guiding principle, however you wish to frame it, even if you’re standing just now as agnostic, atheist, or just ‘stuck’. It’s a guide to cultivating your unique and individual path to unearthing your deepest true self; so religion, any religion, can be, but need not be, involved. Aedamar summarises the “spectacular failures” of organised religion, in this regard, with the clarity and confidence of a lawyer who has done her research, and a philosopher who knows every side of the argument before it begins, and then outlines the remedy with the expansive love of a spiritual teacher. She does this authentically, as she is all of these and more. She is a true scholar in every sense, and her brilliance shines through all that she describes, and all that she urges us to become. At the same time, she is deeply connected through empathy, love and compassion to the very human nature of our dilemmas and difficulties. I couldn’t think of anyone better suited to guide us on our individual journeys, towards a brighter future for humanity and our world.
