About this listen
Sorting through a lifetime's worth of accumulated possessions can be a daunting and stressful process that millions of Americans confront every year. The need to downsize often arises at a momentous life change, whether you're an empty nester or retiree selling your family home, a newlywed blending your households, or cleaning out your parents' property after they've moved into assisted living or passed away.
Decluttering guru Peter Walsh knows the difficulty of downsizing firsthand. Along with six of his siblings, he went through the process of downsizing his family home and dividing his late parents' possessions. He realized that making these decisions about mementos and heirlooms creates strong emotions and sometimes sibling rivalries. After this experience, he downsized his own home. Peter doesn't see downsizing as a difficult chore - rather, it's a freeing, rejuvenating process. Now, in Let It Go, you'll access Peter's many tips and practical takeaways, such as how to:
- Understand the emotional challenges that accompany downsizing
- Create strategies for working with your spouse, adult kids, or siblings without drama
- Identify the objects that will bring you real happiness

Very thorough advice
Easy to listen to, gives the order in which to work. some things were repeated word for word though. It would have been useful to have more about decluttering without the prospect of downsizing to a smaller property but that is probably for another book. overall a useful read.

Best I've read on the subject.
Best I've read on the subject. Covered unexpected but totally relevant subjects like wills, emotions, and more. We went from feeling dread to totally happy and more downsized than we ever imagined.

Good compete insight.
I’ve read a number of books on decluttering and downsizing. This book offered me new insight into the items I owned. I was able to let go of items I was keeping for my children that were going to be obsolete due to technology. I listened to this book while I was actually doing a clear out and was able to let go of many items.

More psychological than useful to me
I was looking for practical ways to clear, but found myself listening to psychologies of people when they do this. Quite self indulgent and not what I was looking for sorry!!
