This is a wonderful book, a solid sci-fi story slightly reminiscent of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Aliens have taken over our world. They are parasites and take over our bodies in order to survive themselves. Pockets of humans have survived and live in hiding. The story focuses on Wanda = wanderer (Gabby in the French version = vagabonde). Her human host Melanie has a strong survival instinct and refuses to leave her body, so they have to share it but no one else can find out as they would both be in danger. They end up going on the run together. It is an amazing book of friendship, survival, love and hope. It is full of action and suspense. For those listening to the French version (Les Ames Vagabondes) be warned that two of the chapters are read in the wrong order. Section 3 chapter 1 and chapter 2 are the wrong way round on the audio book.
