Summary

It is said that of all things, hope is the last to die. After thousands of years and numerous attempts by humanity to alter its unwavering tendency towards civilizational suicide, even the hope that springs eternal was beginning to fade.

Following seventy thousand years of undisturbed slumber, the vessel of a planetary empire that had followed its own predetermined path to destruction eons earlier had finally reawakened, bringing with her the potential to change everything.

Embodying all that was benevolent and beautiful from innumerable long-forgotten cultures, this lifeform in suspended animation also possessed the power necessary to prevent her gifts from being corrupted by those who will eternally thirst for dominion over others. As she embarks upon a solemn journey in search of those hidden gems of humanity worth saving, in a world that may not deserve to be saved, the only question remaining is, Will she find them, and will they be enough to persuade her to reveal the secrets that could literally change the trajectory of humankind?

Excellent!

A truly excellent listen, with a plot I have never come across before, and I’ve read/listened to LOTS of SF and fantasy!!
A few humans from a vastly superior race, in suspended animation for many thousands of years suddenly awake, and astonish the world. With their almost magical powers they are seen by many as an existential threat, and measures are taken to eliminate them. As you might expect, things don’t go as planned!
The narration was excellent with an impressive British accent from an american narrator. She almost convinced me she was British until those little giveaways - leesure (leisure), rowt (route), and booeying (buoying). Some of the long ‘a’s were out of place as well. But maybe I’m being a bit picky, as the overall narration was very good indeed. The editing however could have been improved, as I spotted mouth noise, page turning and oddly long pauses.
Having said that I’d give the book 9.5 out of 10. Brilliant!
