About this listen
Agents Gage Patton and Dylan Keerist have found a rhythm both professionally and personally. Their drive at work to find justice for murder victims is in sync and neither of them is complaining about the few nights a week they are tearing up the sheets.
However, a strange new case, dinner with the Queen, and the consequences caused from Gage’s slip in control during the heat of the moment changes everything for them both. Finding a new rhythm isn’t easy and will take adjustment on both their parts. First, however, they have a murderer to catch.
L.E.H.D. 2 is part of a series and not intended to be listened to as a standalone, although it can be.
Trigger warning – mention of abuse, sexual abuse, and drug use (off page.)

An intriguing mystery but leads are cartoonish!
Vampire crown prince Gage Patton is smitten with his agency partner Dylan Keerist, which makes things complicated at the Layma Enforcement & Human Defense Agency. Their current serial killer case involves strange writings left near bullet-riddled bodies and their investigation is hampered as Gage and Dylan commence the Layma mating ritual much to the consternation of their fellow agents. Meanwhile, Gage’s mother, the Queen, insists on interfering with their relationship.
This follows directly from LEHD 1. I found the mystery quite intriguing and engaging, I liked the scenes with Gage’s mother, and I liked the increasing chemistry between Gage and Dylan, but I found their reactions a little cartoonish, especially when Gage starts attacking fellow agents and Dylan starts shooting the ones who try and show him deference—I know it was meant to be funny but it all felt like a hugely childish overreaction! I feel like these books could do with more editing, there’s some clumsy overexplaining. US voice artist Leo Spain gives another enjoyable audio performance.
