Summary
The best-selling motivational guide that TheAtlantic.com calls "a rallying cry for women to get the money they deserve."
Why are women so often overlooked and underpaid? What are the real reasons men get raises more often than women? How can women ask for - and actually get - the money, the job, the recognition they deserve?
Prompted by her own experience as cohost of Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski asked a wide range of successful women to share the critical lessons they learned while moving up in their fields. Power players such as Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Harvard's Victoria Budson, comedian Susie Essman, and many more shared their surprising personal stories. They spoke candidly about why women are paid less and the pitfalls women face - and play into.
Now expanded to address gender dynamics in the #MeToo era, Know Your Value blends compelling personal stories with the latest research on why many women don't negotiate their compensation, why negotiating aggressively usually backfires, and what can be done about it.
For any woman who has ever wondered if her desire to be liked can be a liability (yes), if there is a way to reclaim her contribution after it's been co-opted in a meeting (yes), and if there are strategies men use to get ahead that women should too (yes!), Know Your Value provides vital advice to help women be their own best advocates.

I Got a Raise!
My mom bought me this book and it changed my perspective completely. Literally after finishing it, I used to approach suggested and asked my bosses for a meeting to discuss my compensation. I was confident, short, and non-emotional. They told me that it’s been in the works, guaranteed an 8% raise, and told me they plan on putting me in a lead role and training others. If you have been working your butt off and feel underpaid and constantly question your value, get this book!!

Politically Charged and lacking content
Lacks actionable content to discover your “value”. Mostly just full of political propaganda. Just disappointing, was looking for more explanation of how to turn experience into value, and concrete advice for talking with management about advancement in a unbiased manner.

Hardworking women, prepare to be inspired!
Much of this book highlights just how hard women have had to work to be taken seriously and to have a seat at the table. it has encouraged me tremendously. I would never had thought at 57 I would be gaining momentum in my career, but I am and this book is cheering me on!

Great testimony of how you learn your value.
I was good about this book by an instructor at my work place. I was intrigued and quickly downloaded it. I was expecting to be told how to know my value but was pleasantly surprised at how Mika handled the topic. the stories and interviews gave everything more meaning to hear how others have found their value. I wasn't impressed with the political talk but it didn't stop me from listening.

if youre re republican.. avoid
Constant bashing MY president. This is not respectful. Terrible was to start a book.... Stopped reading 10 minutes in. I'll find someone else to give advise on MY worth. You clearly don't Value anything. Just trying to capitalize on the Me Too Movement... Fail

Not necessary, too much hate
I listened to 90% because a friend suggested it. But I am deleting and never listening again because it's full of yuk about our President. Not necessary at all.

I couldn’t even finish it
I understand that it takes a certain level of self-importance to write an autobiography, but this was just intolerable.

Read If All You Want Is To Hear Mika Name Drop
This book is a complete waste of time unless you like listening to irrelevant stories and an overkill of name dropping. I expected to finish with, at the very least, a small toolbox of tips and ideas but all I got was Mika's story, without how she negotiated her position and salary. Very disappointing.
