Mix a fantasy and romance
This story tried to achieve a mix of fantasy with romance, but in the ring I don’t believe it achieved either successfully. The story telling was good, apart from the worst Welsh accent I’ve ever heard. I don’t think the narrator knows what a Welsh accent is.

One criticism only
As a Brit used to Irish, Welsh and Scottish accents, it was excruciating to listen to the mangling of accents for the Pitt and Rowena characters.
Better not to assign accents if you can’t do them reasonably well.
Otherwise narrator was good. Well paced, well emoted. Thank you.

Always a great story
I love hearing Noras words come to life and not just in my head. My only commet is that here in Ireland I would pronounce pitte as Pete, not pit.
Hope this helps for the future. Maybe get a person from Ireland to help with the names. Nora puts lots of Irish in her books so good luck xxx

good start of another trilogy by nora roberts.
Where does Key of Light rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
at the moment it is on par with her other romantic trilogies.
What other book might you compare Key of Light to, and why?
one of her other trilogies dealing with celtic myths. so far this one is good but it really depends on the third book. I have found the first two books are really good but the third part can be a bit of a let down.
Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I think she narrates all of nora Roberts books and does a good job of performing it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
it held my attention all the way through but you can't listen to a 10 hours book in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
nora Roberts is a very good writer with good characterisation and plot which holds your attention and keeps it there. the only reason I have given it a four star rating is that personally I don't like explicit descriptions of intercourse. in some cases you can't fast play through these scenarios as you could miss something important to the story. also in these scenarios the sex is always fantastic..

Contemporary Romance Plus Ancient Mystery
STORY - (romance/fantasy/mystery) I enjoyed Key of Light. It's not just a sweet contemporary romance. There is also an interesting Celtic mystery, magic, Gods and a big silly dog. The lead characters are smart, likeable, and their clever banter will make you chuckle.
This is Book #1 of a trilogy, and in each book the characters will be searching for one of three keys which will unlock a magic box and release a soul which has been imprisoned inside for centuries. This is the story of Mallory's search. It comes to a nice conclusion, so the book can stand alone, but you will probably want to continue the trilogy and learn what happens when the other two keys are found.
PERFORMANCE - Susan Ericksen does a great job. She is the same narrator who reads the In Death series, so you will recognize Roarke's voice/accent in one of the characters.
OVERALL - Recommended for romance readers, especially if they might like an ancient mystery mixed in.

Missing the usual Nora Roberts magic
Sorry, but I really did not find this book appealing and did not continue to the others in the series. While many of Nora's books are very engaging, this felt contrived and foolishly put up, with a sort of half-baked belief system in magic spells to drive real people to coordinate to find supposedly real keys to unlock their powers from past lives as well as finding their true loves through the finding the keys project. Some nice character touches while others were drawn too strongly - and so it seemed foolishly yet strategically laid out - which left it without much magic.

Key of Light
This review addresses a series, The Key Trilogy, by Nora Roberts. Book 1 Key of Life, Book 2 Key of Valor, Book 3 Key of Knowledge.
A Nora Roberts novel is usually a simple boy-meets-girl-romance with a story sprinkled throughout. Out of the box a tiny bit, The Key Trilogy is fantasy, i.e., witches and Celtic gods type Sci-Fi. A character even walks through a mirror as in Alice In Wonderland. But, Roberts does stick to her formula of chic-lit with the typical mawkish romance scenes *roll-eyes-hit-fast-forward* and an intriguing mystery.
All the characters are drop-dead-gorgeous, and much of the story is will-he-won’t-she romance. Two of the Celtic gods are personified by a handsome couple that own a mansion in a pretty town. They invite three women, complete strangers to each other, to complete a mysterious task (hint: involves keys, duh), ergo three books, one for each.
Anyway, if you like Nora Roberts, saccharine love scenes that do not fade-to-black, a bit of mystery, paranormal/SciFi, these will do.
Brilliance Audio, 2008, narration by Susan Ericksen (same reader as the In Death series) is great as usual. Each book is about 10 hours of listening.
Chic-lit fans enjoy!

This trilogy is awesome. I am not a romancy girl but these stories had mystery excitement and a perfect touch of magic and fantasy. Yea yea the romance was ok too. I got sucked into the characters quite quickly and pretty much listened back to back. Really couldn't put them down, in the car, in the kitchen, getting ready for bed, nonstop. Good stuff.

What did you love best about Key of Light?
The whole story really gets you into this book! I didn't want to stop listening! I listened to this on a five and a half hour drive and I've never been so awake and intune while driving for so long!
What did you like best about this story?
You feel the compassion of these characters, feel their emotions and best of all there's that hint of sarcasm and humor that really keeps this book going!
Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first listen from the narrator Susan Ericksen, I really enjoyed her though I love her Welsh voice!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I've been addicted to this trilogy! I'm a poor college student but I was willing to search under the couch for spare change just so I could see what happened next! This is a book series you never want to end!
