About this listen
On October 6, 1973, Ted Simon knew there was no going back. He loaded up his 500cc Triumph Tiger in the pouring rain and said good-bye to London.
Over four years he rode 64,000 miles round the world. Breakdowns, revolutions, war, a spell in prison, and a Californian commune were all part of his experience, which was colored variously by utter despair and unimaginable joy. He was treated as a spy, a god, a welcome stranger, and a curiosity. The extraordinary trip became a journey into his own soul, and for many others - including the bikers Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor - it is a pure inspiration. Rupert Degas, "the most versatile of narrators" (The Times), captures all the thrills and spills of Simon's experience and the timeless charm.

A Triumph over adversity
Ted Simon's journey around the world on Jupiter is a good read (or listen,) I enjoyed it so much I listened to it twice.
The story is told in his own honest style with a lot of high points and a lot of low points as well.
I'd recommend it.

A hero for our time
Ted Simon made a journey in the late '70s which was the inspiration for many of us back in the early 1980's. This audible version of his book was brilliant and most enjoyable. Highly recommend it.

Extraordinary journey, beautifully retold
I have read or listened to many travel adventures, but this is the most sensual. A rich, poetic narrative from a very talented author who skillfully wove many anecdotes and recollections into an amazing story. Highly recommended listening and a brilliant performance from the narrator.

Acrereading if an old favourite
I read this book many years ago and enjoyed listening to it. Some of the attitudes seem dated but then it’s almost historical. It was definitely a case of I’m glad he did it so I didn’t have to. I was very aware of Teds impatience to get home as the last chapters felt rushed. However by that time I was also keen to finish the book! The reader did a good job.
