About this listen

Joining us in the Audible Studios to discuss his latest book, Lost Connections, is New York Times best-selling author and journalist Johann Ari.

A Cambridge graduate, Johann Ari has a long and experienced career as an award-winning journalist. His in-depth research and accessible style, beginning with the war on drugs, which made up his first acclaimed title, Chasing the Scream, challenged the way we see drug addiction and legalisation.

He now explores the myths surrounding mental health with his latest book, Lost Connections. Johann Hari talks to us about the inspiration behind his latest title, what he feels we need to be addressing when it comes to mental health and his own past dealing with depression.

Finally!

I'm not a huge fan of self help talks and books and I'm sure this is not the right description but after seeing Johann on a TED talk and surprised about how we seemed to have very similar experience with depression I thought I try to find out a little bit more.... Well this interview has been sitting, waiting to be played in my library for ages! Why? Because I was scared that after my initial joy of finding Johann that it would somehow be diluted into stuff I have read before but OMG I was so wrong! Johann just gets 'it' and although I am sorry he's had to feel the pain of depression I'm really glad he has because he's had the motivation and need to delve so deep into the subject and clearly communicate to us about the causes and potential solutions that I actually think he's saved my life at a time in middle age where I feel lost. I'm so grateful to you Johann!

Profoundly moving and deeply significant

Read this book. If you have ever wonderd why so many people in the UK (or anywhere else ) are anxious, depressed and possibly looking into anti depressants as the answer, this book will make you think again.

Interesting and insightful interview to the book

i first heard Johann Hari talk to Sam Harris and it lead me here to this interview and consequently now to the book Lost Connections. A subject close to me, this interview an excellent introduction to the book.
