Joan Didion has received acclaim for both her fiction and nonfiction though she will no doubt be remembered for her incredibly powerful essays on life and the media. Her memoir The Year of Magical Thinking won her the National Book Award for Nonfiction in 2005. In this episode of Live from the 92nd Street Y, Didion, in conversation with former New York Times Executive Editor Joseph Lelyveld, discusses her most recent work as well as her thoughts on the role of journalists and the media in contemporary America.
