New to Doggeroo, Jack Russell is terrier-itorial and counting on the police detective he lives with to help him stop what he believes is the set-up for a series of dognappings. Instead, as performed with an eagerness and cheer perfectly fitting the hero, it is the oversized, bumbling, stammering setter "Red", who helps him get to the bottom of who stole his blanket and squeak-toy in this engaging chapter book for young listeners, the first in a series featuring the dog detective who can’t help but charm through his "Jack’s facts" and "nose maps".
Summary
When Jack and Sarge move to the town of Doggeroo, Jack soon notices that things are going missing. He doesn't mind when an old boot from the yard disappears, but when his squeaker bone, dinner, dinner bowl and blanket vanish, Jack knows that something sinister is afoot. Jack Russell is a dog-detective with a nose for whodunit and, though he is often hampered by the well-meaning but bumbling "Red", he always manages to sniff out his quarry in the end.
Endearing Jack Russell dog-detective and his first intriguing, funny whodunit mystery. Book one of a hilarious series.
