Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

I know what I saw...

'The ghosts of today live not in castles or stately homes, but in ordinary houses and offices, and they're witnessed by ordinary people like you and me. We just need to figure out what the hell they are - the dead returning from the "undiscovered country" of death? Or the product of that equally mysterious and ancient location, the human mind?

This book is the story of these ordinary people who have experienced extraordinary things and want to make sense of them. Each one is a brand-new case I have never shared before; modern day ghost stories that make my blood run cold as effectively as anything that Charles Dickens could rustle up. And they are all entirely true.

It's also a story of my own personal journey of discovery because I've realised something while reading all these incredible stories that come my way. I've realised how much I want to believe. I'm asking you to join me, to keep an open mind and to prepare to have your very concept of reality challenged. Are you ready?'

Another brilliant job by Mr Robins

I have been listening to the Uncanny podcast cast and was glad to have some more to listen to.
What I really liked about this was that I didn’t have to listen to Kieran Okeith come up with sceptical explanations that are more unlikely than it being paranormal.
Anyway great book Danny.
I have already listened through the whole thing twice.

Simply Superb!

Danny Robins has done it again. Following up on his excellent podcasts this brilliantly-written book and fantastically-well narrated audiobook brings to life 4 new cases, interwoven with personal stories, analysis and thought-provoking critique that will keep skeptics and believers alike enthralled.

As with his podcasts, Danny treats the subjects of his investigations, and the people to whom these phenomena have happened, with huge respect and fairness, allowing them to tell their story, weighing the arguments to believe or not, and always wanting to find the reason and truth behind their experiences.

His descriptive prose is as good as any ‘best selling’ author, if anything, making this audiobook even better than the podcasts that preceded it, as Danny’s literary legs have been given the chance to stretch and get into their stride.

Danny’s ability to take the reader (listener) on a journey through facts whilst also bringing to life the people, places and phenomena in a way any fiction author would be proud of, makes this book engaging from start to finish, and at times gripping and scary. And his excellent narration skills mean the audiobook is - for me at least - the most compelling way to consume this superb piece of writing.

Podcast listener or not. Skeptic or believer. Reader or listener. Fiction or non-fiction fan. This book is quite simply a must read or listen for anyone who loves enthralling stories of mystery and life changing experiences.

Buy it. Read it. Listen to it. And don’t have nightmares!

Excellent

Not only is Danny Robins a good writer but he is also a brilliant narrator. I love his little quips .I found the whole book fascinating . I could have gone on listening for hours after it finished. In my opinion anyone who has experienced any kind of strange event which they cannot explain will find this fascinating.

A puckish soulful and intellectually rigourous gem

The best book on ghosts and the paranormal phenomena on Audible. Clever, engaging and honest.

If you love the uncanny, you'll love this book!

Heck I get excited enough when new episodes of Dannys 'uncanny' podcast appear on bbc sounds let alone when he announced his book. I counted down the days till release and binged it everyday at work, its chilling, exciting, funny, insightful and has all the charm that Danny brings to his popular podcast series. I hightly reccomend if you're looking for a peek into the paranormal!
