Summary

È il 1946 quando Amerigo lascia il suo rione di Napoli e sale su un treno. Assieme a migliaia di altri bambini meridionali attraverserà l'intera penisola e trascorrerà alcuni mesi in una famiglia del Nord; un'iniziativa del Partito comunista per strappare i piccoli alla miseria dopo l'ultimo conflitto.

Con lo stupore dei suoi sette anni e il piglio furbo di un bambino dei vicoli, Amerigo ci mostra un'Italia che si rialza dalla guerra come se la vedessimo per la prima volta. E ci affida la storia commovente di una separazione. Quel dolore originario cui non ci si può sottrarre, perché non c'è altro modo per crescere.

L’accento…

Il libro è molto bello ma per un protagonista napoletano che parla in prima persona e con tanti modi dire dialettali era necessario scegliere un lettore con inflessione napoletana ! Peccato.

Bello a metà

Partito bene, la storia dà il meglio quando il racconto è sull’infanzia. Dopo cede al melenso, al ripetitivo, al ridondante e allo scontato.

Decent story but was never fully hooked

Well written and narrated story, but I never found myself deeply connected to the protagonist and his plight.

A Fantastic Story

The stori was great and the reader's performance too. I loved it! It was the first book that I read from Viola Ardone but I think I will read more from her.
