Summary

La manéra è la scure dei boscaioli di Erto. Nessuno come Santo della Val, che abbiamo già incontrato in "Storia di Neve", ne conosce il filo della lama, l'equilibrio del manico, nessuno come lui sa ascoltare il canto che si alza dalle manére quando i boscaioli entrano a far legna nei boschi. Santo è il migliore tra di loro, il bosco è la sua vita, ma la violenza del sangue lo costringe alla fuga dal paese per cercare fortuna tra le ricche foreste dell'Austria. Nuovi amici e nuovi amori, pentimenti e bramosie dell'animo, finché Santo, dopo l'eccezionale incontro con il grande scrittore Hugo von Hofmannsthal, sentirà imperioso il richiamo della propria terra.

Il solito (grande) Mauro

È incredibile come Corona riesca a fare grandi delle storie semplici. Il libro racconta la vita del boscaiolo Santo, originario di Erto, delle crudezze e delle gioie della vita semplice di montagna. La narrazione scorre bene e gli interventi di Corona come narratore sono un inframezzo che aggiunge un tocco personale in più.
