Summary

Detective Michael Bennett arrests an infamous South American crime lord in a deadly chase that leaves Bennett’s lifelong friend Hughie McDonough dead. From jail, the prisoner vows to rain epic violence down upon New York City - and to get revenge on Michael Bennett. To escape the chaos, Bennett takes his 10 kids and their beautiful nanny, Mary Catherine, on a much-needed vacation to his family’s cabin near Newburgh, New York.

But instead of the calm and happy town he remembers growing up in, they step into a nightmare. Newburgh is an inferno of warring gangs, and there’s little the police - or Bennett - can do to keep the children safe. As violence overwhelms the state, Bennett is torn between protecting his hometown and saving New York City.

A partner in his investigations, federal prosecutor Tara McLellan, brings him new weapons for the battle - and an attraction that endangers his relationship with Mary Catherine. A no-holds-barred, pedal-to-the-floor, action-packed novel, I, Michael Bennett is James Patterson at his most personal and thrilling best.

ok cop, meh person.

I really enjoyed the plot but Mike Bennett is such a flake when it comes to women and it ruined the story for me. I can't respect him. Hopefully he will man up in the next book.

Book is far too short

The review is in 2 parts.

the naration is excellent, you feel the lead character is the narrator, He sounds exactly like I would imagine the character to sound. The story is good, though poses more questions than it answers.

Brings me to the 2nd part, the story is far too short, it beggars belief the writer has chosen this point to stop the story, the cynic in me feels the writer has sold us short to entice the reader to purchase the next in this excellent series.

Overall, for what is provided it is another great novel but can't help but feel short changed.

I Michael Bennett

Another excellent book from James Patterson. I love reading about the Bennett family. The story was full of twists and turns. Very unexpected ending.

Well used travel time

Not the best Patterson I have listened to. The story started well but gave the impression that the writer was in a hurry to finish. The main character was well defined and the reader will understand where he is going. There was always something to entice you to turn it on again on the return journey.
