Equally funny banter and off-putting sexism.

There are some spoilers in this review, but nothing you won't guess would happen in this kind of a story anyway.
Right off the bat, I have to say this: I have listened to so many alpha romance stories, including omegaverse stories, and this one took the cake in terms of misogyny. The main problem I have is that this woman is headstrong, determined, and doesn't want to be defined by her dynamic. This male refuses to even try to understand a human's thinking although he rules over them and continues to push her into being what he wants her to be. He keeps firing her and she keeps coming back. She keeps saying she needs to work and he ALLOWS her to do so without understanding why it's important for her to feel like her own person. He turns her into a baby making machine, her worst fear by the way, and by the end of the book she's all good with it after he just continually bulldozes her. Oh, my dreams of being a lawyer? Nah, who cares. Oh, I wanted children later n in life and went to college so I could focus on my career? Forgotten! Oh, my baby is chilling in my womb to the sounds of screaming while males are tortured during my pregnancy and my mate comes back covered in blood? Ah, well, what happens, happens, I'll just refuse to think about it! The unbelievable denial or acceptance of this (can't tell which one she settles on, really) grates at my nerves throughout the book because SHE does all the changing instead of him. Raven changes 0% throughout the entire book. He strives to make her happy, yet doesn't bother to try to understand why certain things are even important to her in the first place. And it's exactly the kind of person I'd never want to be with. The saving grace of this book was both the narrators as well as the funny dialogue. The clever banter between these two made me chuckle and if this guy could take five seconds to recognize that women are more than a womb, he would've been much more desirable. Yes, omegas are rare in this universe and they are the only ones that can reproduce, WE GET IT. But that doesn't mean that every alpha has to push himself onto whatever female he finds so fast and so roughly that her whole life is ripped out from underneath her in a matter of a month. I was so frustrated by the end of this book that I wanted to scream at Raven. His undying loyalty is one thing and I can even respect him as a warrior and a leader, but as a partner, I'd be utterly disgusted with his close-mindedness, especially in light of his musings of how humans are so close-minded about so many things. I wanted to tear through this whole series but after this book, I'm having second thoughts; if all of the books in this series are going to be unchanging, ridiculously sexist cavemen, I'm out. There's a fine line between possessive alpha male and sexist jerk and unfortunately that line was crossed with Raven's character in my opinion.

Next Gen Horde;-)

Jacks writes about the next generation Horde and starts the series with Raven, son of Tayseer the King of Regha. It’s been a few years since Regha invaded Earth in response to our imprisoning Regha’s original diplomatic mission. One of whom was Tayseer’s sister Sidone.
Raven is left in charge of Earth and has to deal with unregistered Omegas, a drug menace, and rebelling Humans.
And in walks Raven’s new personal assistant and Omega bonded.
Bennett and Lucas do an ok job of narration, but sound a bit too urban aka tax accountant. I would expect Bennett as Raven aka Hunger to sound a little more primal. Just personal preference.

For serious alien-human romance lovers

This is another mate story. The female narrator helped me get through it w/ her tone that always hinted @ humor. Otherwise the understated humor was a fail.
I wish I had known that the story was about an alien prince. I would've passed on it.
"Pussy" was said relatively frequently at times in the story, but the sex fit the story.
There's a political aspect to the story, since there's an issue of earth rule. And pack-like hierarchies play a big role along w/ commentaries on negative human characteristics. And if someone is presenting as "female" including the name (Christy), referring to that person as "he" is wrong, generally.

Needed to be longer and more developed

Great story. It just way too short, and I am not saying that because it was just a short story. The writer has gaps in the book that she jumped over with a small explanation when she could have developed the story it made it more well-rounded. It is worth the read, but expect not to get a full fledged story out of this and there will be many questions left unanswered.

Even klutzy Omegas get Alphas!

Laughing so hard I was snorting. Spoiler alert! Aliens have Roombas!

And the big battle scenes... Whoa! Plus this author's usual hot stuff. Nothing says equal opportunity employment like sex toys in the office, right?

If you haven't read or listened to this author, DO! If you have, you'll recognize the offspring of a major Alpha from another series. These just keep getting better and better!

Love the way she....

Ava Lucas is the perfect narrator for these Hoard books. She is alway ready to deliver a startled and sexy scene with just the right flavor. The world development for the men is comically done even though the male is serious. I love that it connects to the last kindle book. I hoped she would make it into an audiobook. No matter,This book takes place about 18 years or so after the last book so the timeline keep going for the Alpha Hordes. Good sexy and funny at times, book

WTF

I didn't have to finish this book to know that I wasn't going to give it a high rating. I'm being generous. Forced submission made to seem like it was voluntary is not okay. The sounds he makes to make her compliant is the equivalent of giving her a date rape drug. Without that this was a good story.

On the fence

This book has an interesting storyline; however, the affects an alpha has over an omega is at times over the top. The narrators did a good job with the characters. Will listen to the next book.

One of the Best Alpha voices I’ve ever heard!!!

I can listen to this audiobook over and over again. I do listen to this audiobook over and over again. The story is great and the voice actors enhance it. Love the whole series.
