About this listen
Honeybees make decisions collectively-and democratically. Every year, faced with the life-or-death problem of choosing and traveling to a new home, honeybees stake everything on a process that includes collective fact-finding, vigorous debate, and consensus building. In fact, as world-renowned animal behaviorist Thomas Seeley reveals, these incredible insects have much to teach us when it comes to collective wisdom and effective decision making. A remarkable account of scientific discovery, Honeybee Democracy brings together, for the first time, decades of Seeley's pioneering research to tell the amazing story of house hunting and democratic debate among the honeybees.

This won’t be for everyone.
If you are a beekeeper or have an interest in how bees do their thing, then this book is for you. I am a beekeeper and not only was it informative it taught me some important lessons on swarm mentality and how to put out a swarm trap that will be most interesting to a bee. The book is well written and is more like a story rather than a text book. The most important thing I found out is about a place called Landshut in Germany and how an individual who did research inspired the author on his research. I live in Elgin in Scotland which is twinned with Landshut. Enjoy the book.

Comfortable but lengthy
I overall liked the authors approach and style to the topic and i did learn a lot of interesting new things about bees. The only drawback i experienced was that at many points i felt like the message could be conveyed at half of the time. At points i didnt mind it but eventually the book was a bit too lengthy given the content - for my taste, that is.

Fascinating insight into one of man’s best friends
I am just beginning my journey into beekeeping so parts of this took a few listen throughs to wrap my head around.
But all in all this is a brilliant, informative and wonderfully insightful look into the life of honeybees! Loved making my way through it and will definitely be going back and soaking in the information again soon.
