Sweet sexy story

I enjoyed this sexy story by Ayla Asher. The narrators were fantastic! I loved the dual POV of the story and the narrators did such a fabulous job with it.

The story focused on Kayla, a smart, sexy attorney who unfortunately didn’t have the best view of herself because of her mother’s negative comments throughout her life, and Carter, the sexy playboy actor who lives right next door to her. Kayla and Carter team up to have a fake relationship for the sake of their families through the holidays.

The relationship between them progresses to a physical one and Kayla fears that she will lose her heart to her fake boyfriend.

I loved that the story was real and emotional sexy and really heartfelt. It was definitely worth taking a chance on.

Taking a Chance on Love

Carter Manheim is a stage and commercial actor and considers himself a confirmed bachelor. His appetite is healthy and he brings home a beautiful, model-thin woman almost every night. Kayla Summers is a successful lawyer and she's hoping for a promotion at work. She's self-conscious about her voluptuous body that her mother criticizes for keeping men away. All her mother wants is for her to get married and give her grandbabies. She and Carter are next door neighbors and have a "passing in the hallway greeting" type of relationship. Kayla thinks he's gorgeous, but she doesn't like his type. She's sure that he's never going to think of her as anything but a neighbor. Carter's mother has stage 4 cancer and her time is running short. She wants to see her two sons and their women happily married or dating before she dies. Carter has a great idea and thinks that Kayla would be the perfect woman to have a fake relationship with him. It's the holiday season and Kayla's family expects her to visit, but it's the last thing she wants. She has to face her mother's criticism and doesn't want to do it alone. When Carter asks her to pose as his fake girlfriend and visit his mother for Thanksgiving, she lets him know that she needs him, in return, to spend Christmas with her family. He doesn't know what her mother is capable of. As they grow closer, Carter starts to have cold feet because he doesn't do relationships and Kayla becomes invested in their relationship, so she decides to break it off before it gets any more painful. Carter's inner turmoil is almost too much and I was happy that Kayla cut her losses. After a talk with his brother, he decides she's worth giving it a try. I would have loved the ending if he weren't so wishy washy and still unsure of their future up to the end. The narration is so good that it kept me in the story and made me feel what the characters were experiencing. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are two of my favorite narrators and this story is spot on! 

So much fun!

I had so much fun listening to this book. I can't imagine going through the minefield of a woman pushing her daughter into having to be married. This was well written and the narration was very good. Wen and Kai make a great team and brought the well written characters even more to life.

Love a fake romance!

I simply LOVE a fake romance...to have one set during the holidays is my catnip! Carter and Kayla are neighbors in Manhattan...she’s a workaholic attorney, he’s a playboy actor/narrator. Her mother is constantly on her case about getting married. His mother is dying and her wish is to see him married. Carter proposes a fake relationship and Kayla agrees...what happens when the fake relationship becomes more? Can they return to being JUST friends? Cute story, engaging narration with a great HEA.

Fun fake romance!

I love the fake romance trope! This story was fun and heart warming. Carter and Kayla have been neighbors for three years. Carter has never been a relationship guy. However worrying that he may have only one more holiday to spend with his mom, he convinces Kayla to be his fake girlfriend. Well you know how things go from there. Both narrators were fantastic, and found myself consumed in the story. I loved the duet narration! Overall this was a great holiday story.

Great story!

Oh.My.Goodness!! What a great story! I'm a huge fan of stories about fake relationships in general, but I really LOVED this one so much!
It’s about Carter and Kayla, they have been neighbours for three years.
Carter doesn’t do relationships, but since this will be her very last Christmas he wants to make his dying mom happy and bring a girlfriend home for the holidays.
Kayla’s mom is nagging her for ages about not having a boyfriend. They decide to be fake boyfriend/girlfriend. How convenient! I absolutely loved this storyline!

The narrators, Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross, did an amazing job. This duet narration is so good!!

fun story

Kayla Summers, a lawyer, is a strong willed woman. But underneath her persona, she has self esteem issues due to her mother always commenting on her weight, appearance and still not married.
Carter Manheim is an actor, narrator and a confirmed bachelor. He wanted to make his mother happy before her death. She always wanted him to have that special someone in his life.
So? Fake boyfriend, fake girlfriend, fake relationship. what could go wrong?
Kayla and Carter is fun, excited and steamy. They really connected and had fun together. But this is only supposed to be fake.
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are very entertaining narrators. They really brought this story to life! They capture every emotion, every voice. Each character's personality was perfection! Thank you for the great listen! I wish i could give 10 stars. I was gifted this through Story Origin and offered my honest review.

Wish Carter lived next to me!

This is my first time reading an audible and I must say it greatly exceeded my expectations!
I found myself identifying with Kayla throughout this book, wishing I had a real Carter dwelling in the apartment next to me. I must get book two and see what happens next with them!

Faux Holiday Romance

I really enjoyed listening to His Holiday Pact by Ayla Asher. The trope is a favorite of mine: fake romance that morphs into something real. Carter and Kayla are 30-something year old neighbors who are more or less strangers. They have occasional run ins in the hallways with no real interactions otherwise. One night they run into each other at a bar and grab a drink together. After discussing the upcoming holidays, they decide to be each other's plus one at their respective family's celebrations. Both have very good reasons for doing this: he's trying to make his mom's last holiday special and she needs a buffer between her and her mom's constant put downs. As they book moves along, they become friends and seem to enjoy spending time with one another. The chemistry is off the charts and once their physical relationship begins, it is HOT.

I liked how Kayla was strong woman throughout the book and never settled. She knew what she wanted from Carter and let him go when she knew he couldn't give her that. I also liked how Carter's character grew as well. Carter was the prototypical playboy bachelor for life. It was good to see him commit to being only with Kayla while their relationship ran its course and how he stuck to that when he questioned by his friends.

I loved the narration style of the book. Having both narrators read their parts in each chapter was great. I especially loved how they interspersed laughter here and there throughout the book.

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. I received a copy of this book for my honest review.

Enchanting Love story!

What a heartwarming story! Neither Carter or Kayla has commitment or marriage on their minds due to issues with their parents. They both have successful careers. They're next door neighbors and while Kayla thinks that he is sexy, she feels that her looks could never compete with the sexy women that he brings home. This is where the author shines with her character development. Both characters will go through many changes before they realize that they can be in love. This story is realistic in so many ways. There will be many funny and some sad moments as well as sensual love scenes. This is one of those books that you can't put down and will want to reread. I want to know so much more about the two lead characters. Please give us a follow up story about them.

I prefer longer stories so I usually don't read novellas but I love these narrators. They drew me to this excellent story. Wen gives Carter a sexy yet at times a heartbreaking voice. Kai gives Kayla a strong and sassy voice that also has vulnerable aspects to it. Both narrators excellently portray the emotions and personalities of all of the characters. Wen and Kai are outstanding storytellers and therefore are a pleasure to listen to. I highly recommend this Audible book.
