About this listen
Prepare for mischief, romance and hilarity in this 1920s comedy of manners, set against the majestic backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.
It's 1928, and Bright Young Things are taking London by storm, but debutante Ophelia's life is all mapped out: marriage to a cod-faced aristocrat and a life of dull respectability.
Refusing to play along, Ophelia is banished to her ancestral home in the Highlands of Scotland.
There, she'll be so bored, she'll come to her senses, won't she?
Meeting her eccentric relatives, Ophelia isn't so sure.
And she can't deny her attraction to ruggedly handsome estate manager Hamish...
...don't miss the other two volumes in this hilarious trilogy: 'Highland Christmas' and 'Highland Wedding'

First of the trilogy
Ophelia is being sent away to her grandmother’s Scottish castle as some sort of punishment, because she’s not willing to marry yet. Once settled she’s actually enjoying herself. Her grandmother is a real sweetheart. When there’s a party held for her grandmother’s 60th birthday, several guests are joining to stay at the castle as well.
Many of them are really enjoying themselves with a few “romantic escapades“. Ophelia is joining them as well, but actually has her eyes set on one specific man. Only…he is with another woman.
I really enjoyed this story and loved how every character is described.
The story of Ophelia continues in Highland Christmas.
Great narration by Gareth J. Davies. It’s always a pleasure listening to him. I liked the sound effects too.

Highland Fling
Great narration from Gareth. A fun story set in the Highlands. Ophelia is sent away from London to 'think about her future'. Being married off is not for her, but being exiled to her Grandmother's estate is not her idea of fun.

Well INever! .... 🤭
Truly I have been taken back to the early 1900s with a Female Main Character who truly knows her mind and is not afraid to go after what she desires! I found myself blushing at some of the goings on of the older generation too! Oh My Goodness! There was never a dull moment in that Scottish Castle. There were enough supporting cast affixing to the story (I was intrigued by the Castle Staff). However my ABSOLUTE favourite is.... Pudding! 🐶
Gareth your narration is everything. You have brought the book vividly to life. You do not disappoint.
I am diving straight into book 2 ....Highland Pursuits

Beautiful plot and excellent narration
Emmanuelle's ability to send the listener (reader) back to a different time and place is as always extraordinary. Gareth Davies' narration is a delight to listen to, he brings out the eccentricities in the characters perfectly, and Emmanuelle’s writing style made me feel part of the story and as if I was one of the characters too. The addition of the sound effects adds to the atmosphere. Overall, a fun, sometimes saucy, and exciting romance. Fabulous start to this trilogy.
