Summary
She's been unjustly imprisoned by a clan she aided. Will Duncan’s support win her heart? Or will his assistance come too late?
Fleeing the English army that murdered her family before her eyes, Anna Braxton rescues two young women kidnapped by a barbaric Highland clan. Her efforts earn her both gratitude and suspicion, and she counters their belated offer of friendship with anger and distrust. But she does not count on the unexpected impact the laird’s son has on her heart.
Duncan MacGregor does not understand his DA’s command to imprison the young woman who saved his sister’s life. He is more than intrigued with Anna’s skill with a bow and sword—in fact, he is fascinated by everything about her, in spite of her lack of feminine wiles. Straightforward and with a deep-seated sense of honor, Anna Braxton disrupts his entire notion of a suitable woman.
Trained as a warrior and unwilling to be any man’s chattel, Anna shuns the idea of marriage—until Duncan coaxes her into a world of acceptance and passion she never knew existed. He wants her as his wife. She has her own terms—conditions Duncan is not certain he can accept.
If you love self-sufficient heroines, rich historical detail, enemies to lovers, and exciting plot twists, escape to the Highlands today and join Duncan’s and Anna’s romantic adventure.

✨ Amazing! ✨
I love love LOVED this book. It is rich with history, but the story was fantastic. It was very different than many historical romances I have read, but absolutely wonderful! The narrator is very good, too. Duncan and Anna both stole my heart in different ways! I highly recommend this series! ♥️

Anna is everyone's hero, brave and resilient.
Highland Escape AUDIO by Cathy and DD MacRae was one of the better highland romances I have read (listened to). Anna Braxton had been hunting with her brother when they returned to their father's keep to see it in flames and her father dead. Her brother rushes into the fray where he is also killed. Although she has promised him to seek refuge with her grandfather, she doesn't want to rain trouble down on him and so she just rides, north. After being in the saddle for a couple of days she comes upon a group of men intent upon molesting the young women they have captured. Anna can't allow this to stand and so she attacks. There are 6-8 men and she quickly dispatches most of them, when yet another contingent of men arrives. They are the clan to whichs the young women belong and they kill the remaining warriors and capture Anna. Returning to their keep, the laird commands that she is a prisoner and send her to the dungeons, unsure of who she might be. He has already sent a rider to ascertain that information.
Duncan is the son of the laird and will someday replace him as laird. He argues that Anna should be treated as a guest, that she had rescued his sister, Nessa, from those men. After a week, when the rider had returned and given the laird all the information he had gathered, the laird was ready to relent when Duncan, his son, came to him with the information that Anne had escaped her cell and tried to leave. Having a sleepless night, he had seen her and stopped her. Thus began their very tempestuous romance. Anna was a clever warrior employing methods and weapons unfamiliar to them all. She earned everyone's respect. It was a terrific story, full of drama, but didn't feel stilted or manufactured. It felt real.
The story was narrated by Jenn McGuirk, who was the perfect narrator. She had enough of an accent to make it authentic, yet was understandable. Her voice carried the strength necessary to be Anna, at the same time was able to relate with the other characters and make them a part of the story without resorting to the antics some readers employ. She was terrific and made the book!
I was invited to listen to a free e-AUDIO of Highland Escape by the authors. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #ddmacrae #cathymacrae #highlandescape #jennmcguirk

Don't mess with Anna
Really enjoyed this book ,Anna Braxton was with her family when they were attacked by the English, saw her family all killed! Anna is well trained in war fare, she handles the knives and bow as well as a man, maybe better, Duncan MacGregor comes to the rescue to save her, Duncan father is Laird of the MacGregor clan, they don't know Anna so decided to kidnap her! Duncan is very interested about Anna, loved how strong and independent she is. Nothing that Anna can't do, enjoyed how story developed between Duncan and Anna, I would recommend you to get this book if you enjoy anything to do with Love story, Scotland and the wars between the clans! I read the book and also had audio book, so it was twice as enjoyable.
