Greatest Hits of Podcast & Hammy in parts…

I really like the podcast and have listened since Series 1. Jake and Damien have a great way of eliciting information from some of the most interesting people and the book definitely delivers that. Tom Daley, Kelly Holmes, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Kelly Jones, Matthew McConaughey, Siya Kolosi. All brilliant.

The issue is however, it’s largely just that - the best parts of interviews we’ve already heard. I’d anticipated this but the extent to which it was a rehash of previous interviews was a bit disappointing.

There’s also a lot which seems basically verbatim from Damien’s Barcelona Way book (also really good!) about star-model/commitment etc which seemed a bit of a cop out. I found the ‘pit stop’ concept which pops up a lot a bit hammy too, though well intentioned.

For anyone that hasn’t listened to the podcast, definitely worth it. If not, save a credit and start at Series 1 of the podcast. Sorry to the authors if harsh, I’ll continue to subscribe to the podcast!

Heart warming

This is such a good book. It gives you a humane view of top performers. How you can fail in some areas but be strong in others. How to hone your strengths, have confidence in yourself and still be self-evaluating all the time. I hadn't heard of their podcasts before. The guests are from a wide range of top athletes and business people. I especially like how Jake encourages the listener to find their strengths. This book certainly isn't dry.

Love the Podcast love the book

If you are a massive fan of the High Performance Podcast this brings it all together in a succinct and useable way. And if you have not listened to the podcast then think of this book as application of high performance principals stress tested through many many hours of interviews with top sports people , entrepreneurs and business leaders as well as a few SAS types etc .

Jake, Damian.

Have followed the podcast since day 1. The book is well read by both and some lovely touches as they go off script and ad lib a little. Works really well as an audio book and did follow along with the hard back as well. Excellent content and lessons to be adopted and applied.

A Great Listen

This is like the "film version" of the podcast. Full of advice, guidance and info from high performance guests, experts and psychologists. Put across in an entertaining informal way. Really good and highly recommended 👍

Thought it would be better.

Dull. sycophantic. Wouldn’t waste your money. I honestly had high hopes for this; I was let down.
