Summary
Manager for Hart’s Horse Rescue, Lucy Lenoir, finally feels she has a handle on life after having worked hard to leave her old one behind. So hard, there are times she almost forgets what she escaped. Memories which suddenly come flooding back when she catches a glimpse of a familiar horseman in town.
What’s worse, he’s in the company of the unlikely cowboy she’s only just beginning to trust.
High Mountain Tracker, Bo Rivera, tries hard never to repeat his mistakes. A huge one changed the course of his life and made him particularly cautious, especially around women. So much so, he almost passed up on the best thing to ever walk into his life; the compact, blonde ballbuster in need of a gentle hand.
However, the more he learns about her, the more he realizes a soft touch alone won’t keep her demons at bay. Those will need a firmer hand…to keep the gun steady.

Awesome book
Wow this book was hard hitting for sure. I knew Lucy’s past was dark but it was heartbreaking. So glad Bo and Lucy got their own hea. As always Ms Barker’s books are unique and compelling. Once you start you won’t want to stop. The narration was fabulous too. Totally enhances the story

Another amazing romantic suspense!
I cannot get enough Freya Barker! Every book as good as the last, I find myself completely lost in the story and enjoying all the characters! This one is packed with a devastating history, a feisty mother and an amazing couple! Lucy helps run the horse rescue, helping those who need a bit of emotional support through the horses. She keeps to herself for the most part, so when Bo realizes she is not as young as he thought, he is in for a challenge. Getting past those high walls around her heart will not be easy. He does not know all of her past, but he knows it's tragic and dangerous. When it comes to haunt her and she goes on the run, Bo and the High Mountain Trackers are on the move to help. Will they find her in time? Will she trust enough to go back to Bo? Talk about exciting! I was on the edge with this one. The story is original, suspenseful and romantic. I love seeing all the people we have met before, how they have each others' backs and give that family feel. It's an fantastic story and series.
Ada Sinclair continues her fabulous narration of this series with her portrayal of Lucy. She is a complex characters, full of layers and secrets, and Sinclair brings it all.I could feel her fear, strength and love. She is incredible. Jamal Roque is new to me, and he was great as Bo. He creates a strong, protective character, perfectly suiting Bo. I enjoyed this one!

Impact
Lucy and Bo have secrets, both have built walls high. Bo lives in town so that he can keep an eye on his elderly and feisty mother. Bo is interested in Lucy, who is the prickly assistant to his boss’s wife at the animal rescue. This story is filled with action, mystery a drama, twists and turns. Loved.
Amazing dual narration from Ada Sinclair and Jamal Roque. Perfect
